Anybody Know What This Piece Played on "Courage the Cowardly Dog" Was?

I caught part of a Courage the Cowardly Dog cartoon that had Courage being chased in a boat by some kind of rat-like thing, while a classical sounding piece of a woman singing “Ahhh, ahhh” was playing. Anybody know what this was? It sounds kind of like some music from Blade Runner but definately wasn’t that.

Human Habitrail is the epsiode in question.

They say the chase scene is a parody of Moon Raker. Is it from there?

I don’t remember any sort of music like that in Moonraker, although I do remember a chase where a gondola drives up on land.

And I can’t help but end my post with:

It’s Doc Gerbil’s world
It’s Doc Gerbil’s world…

That’s it. Looks like the song’s an original to the episode. Pity that. Would have liked to have a copy of it.

I love Courage.

My mom IS Muriel and she married
a Eustace.

Does anyone know cool trivia about the show ?

Peter Fernandez, the voice director, was also the voice of Speed Racer and Racer X back in 1967.

I believe that’s his face used for the bizarre live-action white head with the eyes blacked out as seen in the opening sequence.

The Music of Courage The Cowardly Dog

Since some of us are going off a bit of a tangent, I’ll point some Courageous stuff out, per heygeno’s request:

Somehow, at one time cartoons made for TV were eligible for Academy Award nominations. The first Courage short, The Chicken from Outer Space, was. I believe it lost to one of Nick Park’s Wallace and Gromit shorts.

Lionel Wilson, the voice of Eustace (who sadly passed away this April), has a long history in cartoons. He did all the voices for Tom Terrific, a cartoon produced by Gene Dietch at Terrytoons for Captain Kangaroo.

See John Dilworth, Courage’s creator, and his other achievements at the official site of his New York studio, Stretch Films.

Oh my, the news about Lionel Wilson, and his being the voices for Tom Terrific, bums me out. Waaaaaay back when I watch the Captain I loved Tom. I can still remember the little ditty the villian, Crabby Appleton, sang.

*My name is Crabby Appleton, *
I’m rotten to the core.
I do a bad deed every day,
And sometimes three or four!

Very sad about LW. I thought when his voice changed , that maybe he had been sick.

I watched Tom T. when Iwas 4-5…my first cartoon. Crabby A. and Isotope Feenie !
Thanks for the song-- Icould not remember the words !
