But really in need of getting some help I’m Having some problems with my 2005 CHEVY Tahoe just baught it paid 1500 to fix the lifters have the heads resurfaced new oil pump an alot of other little stuff done but now ima Boutta go crazy not sure if its having problems cause that but for sum reason I push on the gas my truck is Hesitating to go like if im running outta gas. Or something’s not getting power it picks up eventually an takes off but its getting worse I put a gas treatment. But I know something’s wrong with it !! Please if anybody has an idea wat it might be please LMK???
Could be a bunch of things.
I would start with the fuel filter. If that’s not clogged, it could be that your fuel pump is starting to go.
On the other end, what’s your air filter look like? It’s not clogged up to the point that the engine is starving for air, is it?
Any whistling noises from the exhaust, or anything else that might indicate a clogged catalytic converter?
Is the problem constant, or is it better or worse once the engine warms up?
Are you getting any check engine codes? If you don’t have an OBD-II code reader, places like AutoZone will hook your vehicle up to a reader for free.
How does it idle? Rough or smooth? If you have a tach, what is the idle RPM?
There are a variety of sensors that can cause issues as well. If you’re lucky they’ll throw a code. If not, using an OBD-II reader that can display engine dynamic data might help narrow down where the problem is.
We have a few professional mechanics that hang out on this board. They’ll probably have some better ideas than what I have.
As engineer_comp_geek indicated there are many possible causes for the hesitation you describe. Realistically all we can do over the internet is try to guess – it’s going to take some testing by someone with expertise to accurately identify the problem.
That said, there are some questions. Did the truck run before the work you mentioned was done, and if so did it hesitate then? Was the hesitation there immediately after the work was done, and if so why wasn’t that addressed by the person or shop who did the work?
These guys basically have you covered. My first move would be checking for a vacuum leak, just because it’s super simple.
Too many mutilated hookers in the trunk? Too many mutilated hookers under the hood? (Thanks to those who gave real answers to pave way for my lame jokes)
Since the door is now opened:
Maybe your truck wants to identify with its feminine side?
