An odd news story that happened days ago but that I somehow just learned about: A baby zebra was found eating grass and wandering along the side of Interstate 75 in Henry County, Georgia, just south of metro Atlanta. There’s no real proof yet of how he got there (you’d think most motorists would notice if their zebra had jumped out of the car), but he was severely injured and seems to have been hit by a car. He was taken to the Auburn U. vet school and is doing better and will be housed at an Atlanta exotic animal rescue park when he recovers, where he’ll either live a contented life or make some of the cheetahs and lions they’ve rescued very happy. He’s been given the name Evidence.
Wow, imagine trying to get your insurance company to believe you damaged your car by hitting a zebra in Georgia.
Evidence? Man, the baby zebra is going to get teased by the other zebras for the rest of his life…
(Nobody’s checked with the local zoos?)
Aww, what a cute little zebra!
We had kangaroos show up between Portage and the Dells in 2005 and 2006. Each time they had nobody claim them and they ended up in the Madison zoo. I can always hope for something like a zebra, which would be damn cool to spot.
Shoot - that’s the only way my insurance company will pay off!
I’ll be here all week! Try the antelope!
Name him/her Barcode.
Now that’s giving me Loony Tunes flashbacks. Daffy was the insurance salesman. Porky was the mark who finally bought the bad insurance.
Final line: “. . . and one baby zebra.”
The weird part is that this is the second instance of an exotic critter getting loose on Atlanta’s interstates within a week.
The first time, it was llamas.
Next week: Pythons terrorize Dunwoody housewives!
The llamas took I-285 and did just fine. Everytime I take I-285 it ends up being more congested than I-75/I-85. I guess it’s a “who you know” thing. (I wonder how long before there are wallabees sighted boarding the train at the Indian Creek MARTA station.)
my Baby!
Maybe it’s because roos make such good moccasins?
My dog snuck in the Zoo once; maybe he showed the animals how to get out.
Zebras are striped, not spotted.
:Crock:
Me loose zeeba! Eat him.
er… give gud home!
:Crock:
Damn; guess I need to start watching the local news. No, not worth it.
Yet another neglectful parent in Atlanta. Roads are for cars, llamas, and armadillos, not zebras!
That’s why it would be cool to spot one.
It would be one of a kind!
Maybe when they heard hoofbeats, they thought horses.
A [V] 8 dinged your baby!
