Anybody playing Battlefield 2?

Allright then, having received permission from CK Dexter Haven (and, I assume, he consulted with others) I’m going to post some Battlefield 2 public servers IP addresses for your gaming pleasure.

Please note that I do not run any of these, nor have any personal connection with those who do. They can be taken down, temporarily or permanently, at any time. And will be if you make asses of yourselves, so no 13375p34k, profanity, or other hallmarks of the basement-dwelling gamer.

These are for version 1.2 (full retail version with latest patch) and you may have them all to yourselves:

217.199.111.25
85.214.19.185
83.219.159.2
81.70.107.184
193.23.224.149
213.239.125.238
203.81.192.56

These are for version 1.0 (full retail without patch), but are often full:

64.213.7.125
209.11.243.163
206.71.153.74

All use the default port of 16567, so if you’ve already played online you shouldn’t have any other difficulties connecting. I doubt any of them work with the demo.

If I’m online you’ll know me as “Machiavillain”, usually playing Anti-tank and flying the attack copter or driving the APC as available.

Thanks, Cynical! I’m on the second floor, here, so I should be okay. I’ll give those a try once my son goes to work, which should be any minute now…

Woo. A few hours ago I reached Corporal and unlocked the DAO-12. Despite having absolutely no range and the painfully long reload time, it’s great.

Cynical Optimist: A bunch of no cd-key required servers? No cool, man. Buy the game, it’s one of the few that’s worth it.

Just thought I’d post this list here in case there are other ‘basic’ things that some haven’t found in the game yet (mostly due to the so-called manual).

Right mouse button fires the coaxil machine gun in tanks.

Press X for smoke in armour vehicles.

Right-click grenades to thrown them further/shorter.

When dead press C to scrool through your team mates to see them playing.

Slide down ladders by using the SHIFT key.

In commander mode, the satallite can zoom in by 3 times (only 2 for squad-leader) so you can actually see people moving and spot them for teammates.

When climbing up ladders, press F11 to switch to 3rd person view. You can see if claymores have been planted without getting too close to set them off. F10 to go back to normal view.
You can duck on stationary MG placements.

Press 3 to change the rate of fire on the primary weapon is allowed (single shot/burst/full auto)

The TV guided missles can be guided by clicking the mouse several times while the missle is in the air.

Press Q, right click on ‘spotted’ and you can choose from a list the item you want to spot.

When injured, press left mouse button to call for a medic.

Use the F-keys to switch positions in jeeps/APC/choppers.

Press the T button to request new orders, ask for arty, ask for supplies when squad leader.

Pressing ENTER while injured prevents medics from reviving you.

Because in infantry-only games like COunterstrike and so on, snipers often have huge advantages, it became a sign of being “133t” to use one at all times. Als, because it was so cheap and irritating; the sniper often had no redeeming qualities except it’s capacity to annoy. For some reason wholly unknown to me, this carried over to games and maps where it is utterly useless and ought to be avoided.

Yeah, I hate being in squads where the leader’s playing a sniper. Every time anybody dies, they spawn in right next to him, stand up and start running, and whoever the leader’s sniping at says “Oh, look, a bad guy,” lays down MG fire and kills both of them…
