Anybody read Salmdan Rushdie's Fury yet?

Just looking for your thoughts…

I read it earlier this year. I really enjoyed it, much more than The Ground Beneath Her Feet. If you haven’t read it yet you should.

Just bought it yesterday, so that good review is good to hear.

I read it a month or two ago, and really enjoyed it. It’s my second-favorite Rushdie yet.

Read the Ground Beneath Her Feet already… I bought it yesterday like Exapno, wanted to hear what a few people thought of it before I dug in.

Personally, I find I enjoy books that have been predetermined as “classics” or at least “good” for me to be better than those that haven’t. I tend to be too critical when there’s no one around to disagree.

My personal favorite work of his is the Moor’s Last Sigh, although you’d need at least a basic grounding of Indian colonial history to understand all of it.

Fury’s not quite as good as The Moor’s Last Sigh in my opinion, the protaganist just isn’t as memorable. It’s still a great read, althjough some knowledge of Fijian political history is quite useful as there’s a thinly veiled critique of the recent goings on there in Fury.

Rushdie’s also put out another volume of essays in the last year or so which is also very goof (sorry, I can’t remember the title). Highligts include Salman’s appearance with U2 at a concert, his abiding love of soccer and Westham in particular and his writings while in hiding from the Ayatollah’s fatwa.
