This thread sure gets its share of first time posters.
I’m sure this is, by far, the most resurrected thread.
And I think that’s really cool.
A weird kind of cool but cool nonetheless…
Or, given the topic of this thread, more “reheated” than “resurrected.”
(FWIW, when I google “Stewart Sandwiches,” this thread is the second result given; that may explain how many new-to-the-Dope posters this thread has.)
Is it the chicken or the egg?
Is Google giving you a link to this thread because you are active member of the SDMB?
I suppose it’s entirely possible, but I just did the same Google search with my browser in “incognito mode” (meaning that it’s supposed to ignore cookies, browsing history, etc.), and got the same result, with this thread being the second return shown.
Brown bag it…? Why Bother…?
A quarter would get you anything on the “Hot Dog” level… (Hot Dogs, Pizza, Hot Ham and Cheese, etc…) and most other offerings from Steward were between thirty-five and seventy cents… Back in the late sixties… Lunch, with a drink and a cookie was around ninety cents…
Guin passed away about 10 months ago, so don’t anticipate a reply from her.
I do miss her.
We’ll just re-heat her.
(sorry, too soon?)
There are zombie threads, and there are zombie threads.
You don’t know how much this made me giggle.
Unfortunately, it is.
Since this thread got necro’d anyway, I figured I’d point out that the Royal Deli place seems to still be kicking around.
Here’s an article about it from 5 years ago:
And the web site for that business is still around and claims to be offering Stewart Sandwiches:
https://www.royaldelifoods.com/
Stewart Sandwiches, locally based in historic Perrysburg since 1956, is the leading wholesaler of delicious sandwiches and salads made from the finest ingredients. Our dedicated salesmen ensure weekly stock rotation for freshness and optimal variety. Any unsold items by the expiration date are credited or replaced, highlighting our commitment to customer satisfaction through our guaranteed sales program.
Is there any other thread that just won’t die like this one won’t? It’s going on since August 2008 with multiple revivals, and long after its OP (ralph124c) got suspended for failing to keep a working email address. And every time it reappears, I get hungry for a Stewart Sandwich again.
Flashbacks of my time at the March AFB breakroom, with the humungous microwave oven, Stewart sandwiches either undercooked, or overcooked to the point of a rock-hard crust, eaten while playing a Harlem Globetrotters pinball game.
I tried to count how many times. I was up in the 40s and kept losing track while trying to spot the new posters.
I would have said this thread was second to What Happened To The Alternate Ending To Big, but that one evidently got closed!
I did a deep dive back in 2017. It was already at 43 then.
Alas, my one massive contribution to the site and it got locked.
I counted 51.
They didn’t heat up properly because you were using a microwave oven. You need one of the infrared type, if they still make them. I loved it when the buns were singed slightly at their edges.
