I must say I found her pretty disappointing. She came across as an over-protected princess who just couldn’t deal with criticism. And as someone afraid to speak out against anything other than generic bad behavior in the broadest of generalities. She wouldn’t even criticize George Bush for the campaign tactics he used against her father in the 2000 primaries.
The world didn’t exist before she was born.
She did talk about the diseased sexual moralism of the political right, and how women are perceived as either pure or as whores, with no middle ground, but my impression was that she just isn’t all that knowledgeable outside of her pet issue. She probably also has orders never to criticize Bush.
I’ll try and get to a re-run, but I think she was claiming just about all these issues are bipartisan.
From what I’ve seen, I think she’s a fairly bright woman for her age, who understands the concept of thinking before speaking, but she’s getting more attention as John McCain’s daughter than she otherwise deserves. She’s no pundit, but I think if more of us normal citizens had her mindset, it’d be a step up for this country.
No reason to come down very hard on her. So, I am with Troy McClure SF on this one.
Usually I like the little lass, but on this particular episode, she came off as ditzy. She prefaced the entire interview by saying she was intimidated, and then punctuated the discussion with “Don’t bully me.” That whole line about not knowing what went on during the Reagan era made me chuckle too. I pretty much blurted out the same thing Begala did seconds earlier. Come on! You don’t have access to books because you were born in 1984?
She added nothing to the conversation and if it weren’t for famous daddy, would never have been invited.
Hope she is never invited back.
She makes Sarah Palin seem intelligent. witty and urbane in comparison.
I thought she did great on The Daily Show but on Bill’s show she came off as overly defensive.
So right now she’s +1, -1. I need to see her in one more interview to decide if I like this girl or not.
I’d be overly defensive talking to Bill Maher, too, and I agree with 85% of what he has to say.
As far as I know, she’s been on Colbert, but not TDS.
Would bang.
I hate when people (usually young ones) use the excuse that they weren’t born as an excuse. I hated it when I was 17 and I hate it now that I’m 38. If you don’t know, that’s fine, just say so. Usually I use Mozart as an example of a person and the viking invasions as events when someone uses it on me.
She sounded like a kid. The whole ‘I’m getting heat for this appearence, woe is me’ stuff just left me cold.
Very unimpressive.
That’s OK Bill Mahr made his living with…
Oh you weren’t talking about him? Nevermind.
