Anybody try one of those Razor scooters?

I’m considering getting one of those Razor scooters. Anyone have any experience with them? I’m particularly looking for folks who might have tried tooling around on one on unpaved roads.

I WANT THOSE TO STOP. Two months ago I saw maybe 1 in all of SF. Now everybody and their grandma has one. They are the worst example of a fast moving obnoxious trend. In the last three days I’ve almost been hit twice by people on those.
If you do get one, get one of the motorized one’s, they at least are rarer and look somewhat cooler.

Here as well. I want to take every damned one I see and chuck them. I can understand the kids going bonkers for these things like they did with pokémon, but I’m seeing adults ride these things around town… ¿huh?
The motorized ones at least have an excuse, they go faster… And I can see that here in NYC. But the regular ones, I really wanna fold up and chuck!

But, don’t worry Baglady. Just put your official SD sticker prominently on the front of your scooter, and you will be safe from our wrath.

The motorized ones pollute. The unmotorized ones don’t. Don’t ever let me hear you bitching about smog.

And the motorized ones are louder than all hell. Some little brat in my neighborhood takes to tooling around the 'hood at top speed, which sounds like a weed whacker with a loudspeaker attached. ARGH.

Tell me how skateboards are illegal on streets and sidewalks, but scooters are not? The injustice kills me…

I have one. And I’m not too old!

Where I work, they get confiscated if people bring them into the store, and the parking lot security has authority to do so as well.

I think they’re the stupidest things I’ve seen. I’ve seen the little rollerblade wheels those things use break apart if they hit a rock at (relatively) high speeds. I’ve seen them flip over because the rider was leaning too far forward. Horrible incidents all of them, but I can’t help laughing at their idiocy for wanting one of those.

You won’t. I live in SF. All our pollution gets blown into the South and east bays. :stuck_out_tongue:

If a Razor scooter is what I think it is, I have seen a catalog selling a similar product with an electric motor. There’s also a TV commercial featuring a Gen-Xer riding one of these electrified scooters to his cubicle.
