Today, I get a confirmation email that says, among other things, “Your shipping confirmation number is X.” After a little googling and blind guessing, I end up at the Israel Postal Authority’s website, and it looks like they accept the confirmation number. Problem is, I can’t read the tracking info:
For some reason (I’m guessing the mix of alphabets), it’s copying slightly out of order, so hopefully the context isn’t too mutilated.
In the spirit of hoping that the information in Hebrew doesn’t include my credit card number, I post it here to find out what it says about my shipping information.
the translation is:
“the specified postal item was received for shipment on 1-2-2006 (the 1st of Feb) at the “mercaz hamelacha” post office branch in the city of Givatayim.”
this isn’t much help–its just a standard boilerplate notice that the item was passed over a counter to a clerk , to be sent by registered mail.
Israeli post office procedure for international registered mail is to track the item only until it is put on a plane out of the country. After that, the responsiblity is on the recipient’s end.
Figured it was something of the like. The email that included the confirmation number said it was shipped today, and I assumed it wasn’t yet out of Israel, but I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
