I already owned an Echo (basement), and Echo plus (living room) and an Echo Dot (bedroom). I also wanted a kitchen speaker so I bought a second Dot.
Problem is, the Alexa app doesn’t like Kitchen Dot. It tells me it is online, but it will not play music. When I ask it to play music, Alexa tells me it is not set up to play music yet, go to ‘add multi-room speakers’.
So, when i try to add it via “Add Multi-Room Speakers”, it shows ‘device not available’.
My other 3 devices work fine.
I am thinking I should delete the kitchen Dot, then re-install, but I can’t even figure out how to delete it.
OK, I deleted the new Dot and re-installed, now it is working.
However…
Am I correct that a device cannot be in more than one group? If so, suppose I want to play music just upstairs? I know I can create an “upstairs” group, but then I won’t be able to play music everywhere at once, correct?
mmm
I traded in my Amazon Tap on a pair of Echos, much to my regret. One is in the kitchen, and the other’s here in the office, down the hall. Once in a great while I can get them to play something on the Everywhere Group, but most of the time, they won’t sync up. I have to start and stop requests to play Indiana Public Radio or WBST 4 or 5 times before it gets it right. The Tap never gave me any of that trouble, and I could unplug it to go anywhere in the house.
