Anyone beat my 'no-pullover' record?

I’ve had my license since July of 1994. Last month I got pulled over (thank Og my sweetie was in the car with me, because I was sort of freaked out), but it turned out it was just a taillight. “I’ll get that fixed!” I told him. No ticket.

My perfect record remains intact, but I can no longer say I’ve never been pulled over for anything at all. Damn.

I’m almost 48, having been driving since I was 16, and have never been pulled over. That makes it (put down the 2, carry the 3), 32 years.

I’m 51. I got my license when I was 17. I’ve never been pulled over for speeding. I rarely exceed the limit by 10. Generally, I’m no more than 5 over.

Do I win?

My father-in law got his first ticket about a month ago. He’s 75, and the only reason he got a ticket is he mouthed off to the officer. In essence, he told the officer he had experienced road rage againist another driver and was chasing them to “get his licence number.” He also told the officer he wouldn’t have had to, if he (the officer) had been doing his job.
Duh.

Been driving for over 20 years and have never been pulled over.

Nor, for that matter, have I ever been riding with anyone else when they were pulled over.

I’ve been driving for 30 years. I’m a good driver, but no way can I beat some of you guys. FWIW, over the years I’ve driven a lot – I put 30,000 miles on my car when I was 17, and never left town.

Anyway, I’ve been pulled over 6 times:

Speeding, age 17 – ticket, court, fine.
Speeding, age 17 – warning.
Speeding, age 22 – ticket, court, dismissed.
Fast cornering, age 34 – warning.
No front license plate, age 36 – ticket, fine.
Ran red light , age 45 – warning.

I have been pulled over once. A small town I drove through everyday incorporated and dropped the speed limit on the main drag from 35 to 25. Got a ticket for 34 in a 25. That was in 1979 so I have been clean for over 26 years.

It’s about money.

First time was this year. I’ve been driving 19 years. I appealed and the ticket was overturned. Go me:)

I’ve never been pulled over on a roadway by a police officer.

Typically I don’t pay much attention to the speed limit. If I’m in a school zone I slow down to exactly the 15 mph that the flashign sign says. Other than that in an urban/suburban area I basically go at a speed that feels comfortable (pace wise) but safe. I find that inside city limits speed limit signs change too much to be worth paying attention to.

On the interstate or highway I’ll have the cruise control on and will typically go about 2-3 mph over the speed limit. That’s the speed where I’m not getting hassled by drivers in the right hand lane and am not having to constantly slow down because of whoever is in front of me.

I might go 10 mph over the speed limit on the interstate if I’m in a big hurry to go a long distance but that’s rare and doesn’t happen that often.

Around here BTW 10 mph is pretty serious, you almost always get a ticket for that. Sometimes cops are lenient when you are going way over the speed limit and knock your speed down to 10 mph over because they are a bit merciful on not giving people reckless driving citations (huge legal problem compared to a normal speeding ticket.)

I get parking tickets weekly or so :).

I got two speeding tickets while still on my learner’s permit.

(Guess I turned out to be a slow learner.)

(…or a fast learner.)

I’ve been driving for four and a half years, but I drive a LOT. Only gotten pulled over once, when I drove into town on back roads and forgot I had my brights on, since I didn’t see anyone coming the other direction… until the cop, that is. He just wanted to make sure I wasn’t massively drunk or otherwise dangerous-seeming, I suppose, so I didn’t even get a formal warning. He just ran my license and let me go.

I got arrested twice in the same day.

I’ve got no tickets on my record since 1975 (plenty before the last one, though), but I must admit I did get a 50 in a 40 in '82. I just went and paid it, although I think the Defensive Driving dodge had begun by then.

I waited for my insurance bill to climb, but it didn’t. The ticket never showed up on my record.

About six months later, I read a news item to the effect that the city had just busted several cashiers at the County Courthouse for pocketing fines while pulling the tickets from the system. I guess that could still happen in 1982.

If I’d wanted to fight it, I’d probably have paid some traffic ticket attorney about twice the fine to get it suppressed, but I think I just benefitted from the malfeasance of the cashiers’ ring of thieves.

Should I go turn myself in?

i have a pretty bad driving record, especially considering that i have not been a regular driver for five years now (ttc is the better way,) and have had my licence for only ten years.

speeding: 2 fines, first for doing 74 km in a 50, second for doing 121 km in an 80. also warnings for: 110 in an 80, 65 in a 50 and 140 in a 60.

other violations: 4 fines, one for an improper turn (u-turn where not permitted… i actually told the officer “yes, i saw the sign. i didn’t see you.”) two for excessive noise, and one for improper display of plates.

a couplefew warnings for broken lights, improper display of plates.

plus i’ve had two driving charges end in my acquittal at trial - one for excessive noise, the other for reckless. both complete bullshit (as are the two excessive noise convictions i have, but whatever.)

but i’ve never had a parking ticket.

my old man, though, has a spotless record for fifty-two years now.

Golden Meadow La?, I go through there regularly.

Jeezzzzz, I must be an old lady. Got my license at 16 and now I’m 42. Never been pulled over yet. The trick is - always make sure there is someone going faster than you. Even if by a few feet. If the posted limit is 65 don’t exceed 74. Keep it within 10mph over and there will always be some bozo going faster.

well you probably got the ticket because you were speeding. that is breaking the law. If you’re over by 1 mph you can get a ticket.

in any case my record is nowhere as good. I’ve been pulled over 10-15 times in 10 years but i have only gotten 5 tickets . personal best was 95 in a 45. never do complain with any of them.
