How many years has it been since you've gotten a speeding ticket?

So? How long has it been? I got five speeding tickets in less than a year in 1986 in Texas when I was 16 and lost my license. I got one more in 1991 and that was my last moving violation. So for me it’s been 21 years (out of 26 years of driving). I am 43. When was your last one? Has anyone never got one? Who has gone the longest without one?

Last month I got my first speeding ticket in 17 years. :frowning:

About three years ago. My last and only one to date. I was on my way to Montreal with my ex to visit her parents. I was doing 130KM in a 100 zone. The cop said I could of taken thre pts off your license but only took two, and handed me a 150$ fine. Thank you officer then went on my way.

I’m 43, been driving since I was 20.

Probably 18 or 19 years.

I got one in 1985 and none since.

I’ve only gotten one in my life. It was while I was living in Chicago so sometime between 1976 and 1982. It’s been at least 30 years.

Okay, but how long has it been since you got one for going too slow?

I’ve had my licence ten years and I’ve never had a speeding ticket. I get a discount on my licence renewal for never having had any sort of traffic violation.

About 7 years. I’ve deserved many since then but never been caught.

Traffic on Hwy 407 generally moves at between 120km/hr and 140km/hr. 140km/hr is losing your license territory since the limit is 100km/hr but the highway was designed for speed - long straight and with slightly wider than normal lanes so it’s not surprising that people use it.

I was pregnant. My son is 14. So like 14.5 yrs go.

48 hours.

Weak.

So far you are the frontrunner, sir!

You’d better get off his lawn before he does excruciatingly slow donuts on yours!

I have deserved more than I have received too. Where is Hwy 407? Canada?

One thing I have learned is how to successfully speed (safely, not going insanely fast). Never hang too long in the left lane if you can help it. Show cops the respect they deserve when you see them and slow down if you are speeding when you approach them. Have license/insurance/registration ready before the cop gets to your window if pulled over and turn on the courteousness. Pick your spots. Know where your speedtraps are. Never speed in residential areas. That sort of thing.

Never caught for a moving violation. Last parking ticket would have been around 1980.

I’ve never even been stopped with a speed warning and I’ve done over 400K miles. I’m sure my luck will run out eventually, though. I have gotten two tickets for moving violations other than speeding, and I must say I have deserved speeding tickets more than those other ones. I generally don’t run red lights or come to a rolling stop, but I guess it’s easier to write tickets for that.

So you are the frontrunner in a new category: who’s the oldest person that’s been driving the longest without ever getting one?

I’m 29 and have never received a speeding ticket.

Got one this year. There is a 25 mph zone near my house which isn’t dangerous or near a school, or anything to justify it. It is sandwiched between 35 mph zones. I was going about 37. I’ve been trying to find out who to write to in the county government to get it increased to 35.

  1. First and only speeding ticket I’ve ever had.

Memorial Day weekend 1983.

I was going to see Jay Leno doing stand-up.

Place where I was pulled over was a couple of hours from my house then… and a couple of minutes from my house now.

June, 2011. Speeding way late at night on 77 in North Carolina.
