I woke up this morning and there was an email from the office telling me to get my ass to Port Stanley next week. I’ve got the travel arrangements worked out, but is there anything to see and do there? According to Wiki, there are four pubs and a fish and chip shop.
I probably won’t be doing much in the way of sight seeing, as I’ll be stuck on an oil rig for 28 days, the coming straight home, but if anyone has any first hand advice, I’d really welcome it.
Never been, but I’m sure interested in any info on oil drilling off the Falklands! I have been watching two companies: Desire Petroleum and Falklands Oil and Gas…and wondering if these stocks have potential!
Ah yes. Just to explain, an ex-colleague was there rather more recently than my uncle. He told me that the minefields are not well marked and sheep aren’t heavy enough to set off the mines.
You can go penguin spotting I believe there are four or five species to be seen. I’m reliably informed that Pebble Island and Sealion Island are the places to go to see wildlife (the local military uses them for R and R).
You might also want to check out Goose Green. The military used to do battlefield tours, don’t know if they still do.
