My prescription has changed again, and I need a new pair. Just single vision.
My company claims to pay for safety glasses - since OSHA requires it - but in practice they only ever pay up to $75 (which is very little, as anyone who actually buys glasses knows) and the only allowed vendor is Walmart. I did go to Walmart to check out their selection, and was deeply disappointed. They had 6 available frames. All were bulky, horrible, and looked 20 years out of date.
And I wear my safety glasses when I visit customers, so yeah, I’d rather not look like a tool. Considering my glasses will probably be about $250 total no matter where I buy them, I think I’ll just forgo the $75 pittance my company would give me for an awful ugly pair and get some that I actually like.
I was thinking about these. Now, don’t let the $57.50 price fool you. When I actually put in the lenses and features (photochromic, scratch-resistant, high-index, low-glare) it’s around that $250 mark.
I’ve read through our company’s literature - apparently the “Z87 ANSI” is all that’s required. I spend time in both factories and labs (both chemical) so splash protection is probably the biggest thing I need.
Anyone have a good site? Or experience with the frames or site that I linked?
