Anyone care to know the real reason for Cheneys defense of Gitmo?

Putting aside the distraction of whether or not Dick Cheney is directly benefitting financially from Haliburton at this time, can someone tell me why it doesn’t look ethically suspicious why this company seems to benefit time and time again from the decisions of this administration? No-bid contracts, government overcharges, yadda yadda yadda. One could almost get the impression that Halliburton is the only company that can build facilities and run infrastructures during “wartime,” given the disproportionate amount of business they’ve been doing these days.

(And yeah, I fully expect that when Cheney finally leaves the Beltway, he’ll find a nice, cushy job back at Halliburton, with a nice corner office, a nice cherry desk, a nice leather chair, and a nice pile of warm stock options waiting for him.)

It’s not our fault Bush and Cheney consistently meet our low expectations.

Liberal, I owe you a full weekend of beer and grilled animal flesh for the entertainment you’ve brought out in the past few months.

Not only are you diametrically(sp?) opposite of many of my views, you also bring some woefully lacking common sense to many threads that make me offer a toast to you.

You not only call my beloved (sometimes) Party to the carpet, you nail the Dems as well. For the most part it’s, again, based on common fucking sense.

What I love is, though, is those here so used to you slamming the GOP that it throws them in a tizzy when you call the Dems on absurdities. Fair and balanced. You seem to embody it.

We’ll never agree on all things, but I’d sure love to buy a pitcher and discuss it all.

Damn. Thank you.

Do you seriously think Bush and Cheney and all the other fuckheads got there by playing fair? They fucking raped and pilaged their way to the top. Just like every other democrat and republican.

Wasn’t or Isn’t Cheney recieving an annual sum since his departure from Haliburton that has nothing to do with stock? Something like a lovely parting gift.
We do need to try and remain factual. That means not convicting someone without some evidence. It means busting the Pubbies and Dems alike. There’s plenty of corruption on both sides.

Even without evidence in the stock market, isn’t it possible that Haliburton is hideing profits in some of it’s subsidiaries? I tend to think it’s a matter of catering to the largest supporters. You get contracts, we get campaign contributions. It’s hard to nail down because of how things can be hiiden and a lack of real investigative reporting to keep us informed. Thats why we need site’s like Factcheck. I used to like spinsannity before they folded their tent. We need bipartisan truth tellers. Some group whose allegience is to telling the truth and not to any political party or action group.

Bears repeating:

Although that is only one facet of the issue isn’t it? There are other ways to profit.
