Anyone care to SPOIL Flightplan for me?

I was intrigued by the ad ramp-up for the 2005 Jodie Foster film Flightplan, but after watching the first 10-15 minutes of it on cable I grew bored and much annoyed with its pretentiousness. I’d be willing to give it another try if the story is interesting enough, but if it has paranormal elements I’d rather watch static for two hours.

What happens? Is it worth watching considering how doleful and dry and slow it seems at the start? Is it just a trick by which the girl’s father (who possibly didn’t die after all) kidnaps her to avoid a custody battle or something? Is it a ghost/paranormal story? If so, screw that!

It was an ok popcorn flick. The premise did not involve aliens a la The Forgotten or anything paranormal.

The whole kidnapping related to the baddie wanting huge sums of money.

Here’s a thread with lots of spoilers from September of last year.

It relies on so many implausible plot twists that it may as well be paranormal.
