I’m delurking for the first time in a couple years to ask if any regulars are deployed to the war? I’m mostly thinking of ChiefScott, my favorite non-kinfolk Senior NCO.
Any news?
(ps: so, how’s everybody been?)

Well, you may have a hard time getting responses to this. My bother is deployed in Kuwait and he only has access to supernet, which clearly does not allow access to SDMB.
AirmanDoors is on his way; there’s a thread in MPSIMS that should stay pretty near the top for a while…
Supernet? I assume it’s some sort of DoD controlled version?
I remember sitting at home during the first Gulf War; I was still in the AF, had my bags packed, on standby, trying to keep up with current events with no internet and only one (ONE!) 24 hour News Channel. Seems so primitive now, doesn’t it
That should read SIPERNET. A DoD e-mail system which handles classified material.
I am preparing to retire at the end of the month.
Congrats, Chief! Any chance they’re going to make you stay on because of the war?
So what will you do with all this leisure time?
No chance.
Blew out my knee a few months back (completely torn PCL) and am scheduled for surgery Friday. I’ll take a few weeks to literally get back on my feet, and then I beat feet April 30.
Sorry to hear about your knee. I’m sure years of having to kick asses wore down the joint.
“beat feet” is such a Chief’s expression. At least it was at my house.
Good to hear from you. I’m sure you don’t even remember last time I was regular on this board, but I remembered you because I come from three generations of Chiefs, and we talked about that a bit.
