Anyone doing anything for Fat Tuesday?

I plan on going to a bar crawl in Santa Fe. I’ve been going for the last three years and it’s quite the blast.

Of course, it’s no New Orleans, but it’s still pretty fun. If any of the three or four NM dopers feel like making it out there, shoot me an email.

I’ll buy my ceremonial dozen pazckis, though since my parents are coming to visit more than three might get eaten this year.

I’ll be avoiding the tourists at home

I may watch a parade and possibly imbibe some sort of alcoholic beverage. I’m in Louisiana. My university gave us Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off. Unnecessary, I feel, but I’m enjoying it.

[impressed]You have tourists in your home??[/impressed]

Queen Tonya, I had to look 'em up. pazckis. They sound tasty!

Hamtramck was a historically Polish city in Detroit, the definitive place for paczkis. I grew up hearing the legend of how prior to refrigeration the polish bakers would cram all their excess lard into the paczkis since so many folks gave up lard for lent, I’m afraid to Snopes it and ruin it for myself now.
While traditionally they were a super-rich jelly doughnut, it’s more common to find custard, lemon or prune fillings now. My WAG is that the custard paczki weighs a half pound and packs at least 30 grams of fat, and remember, this is right on the heels of Superbowl Sunday-the premiere munch day.

In a shocking development, Men’s Fitness magazine rated Detroit the fattest city recently. We’re #1!

I’m going to the local Del Taco for Tuesday taco night. Mmm… cheap fatness… mmm…

Cooking pancake supper at the parish with my K of C council!

I’ll be playing clarinet at the last Dixieland joint left in NYC.

It’s Fasnacht Day here in central PA. My church youth group sells fasnachts from a local bakery as I fundraiser, so I helped with that last night. This morning I sat down with my own powdered lard nugget dunked in faux-cappuccino.

I’m eating lots of pancakes and sausages at my church’s Parish Hall tonight. I didn’t get drafted for cooking this year. YAY!

I am, however, drafted for St. Patrick’s Day cooking which entails cooking mass quantities of corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew. But, there’s also mass quantities of beer for consumption, so it’s all good.

Considering I have to pass on the booze this time around (people tend to frown on pregnant ladies knocking back a few), I’m gonna have me a stack of doughnuts.

I don’t have any plans – after two years in New Orleans, though, I’m in shock that my SO has to be at WORK today! Poor guy. We just moved a couple of weeks ago. Baaaaad timing, but we didn’t have a choice.

They just don’t do it right here. They try, and it’s fun, but it’s not the same if the whole town doesn’t shut down to party…

Heh. I informed some people about my intent not to party, and they were aghast. And I’m not even in New Orleans.

Ahhh. I just woke up and am ready to go par-tay. I have a few errands to run before I head out. It sounds like a bunch of my friends are going to do the bar crawl thing as well, so it’ll be fun no matter what the crowd is like.

Have a safe and fun Mardi Gras to all, and please be careful out there! (especially those of you with the pancakes and other sweets  )

I had a paczi at lunch. Ooof. Too…much…sugar…

I plan to do my homework and get to bed early, so I can wake up early and not be rushed for school tomorrow.

I know, I’m boring.

It was my 21st birthday, and I just got hotm. Im’ a bit drunk, to say the least. Anyway, there wasn’t any mardi gras stuff going on, so I went to a bar with some friends, then playd some pool. good itmes.

Two other things: this sagved me from haveign to make a “I jsut became lageal” therad, and I"m also not using backspace, so I can see ho w haeingous this looks tomorrow.

Thnak you, and goodnight
