I realize that this was the director’s intent. Although I like stuff that can make my skin crawl, this clip unnerves me more than any Nine Inch Nails video.
I mean, you got the type-cast psycho from “Annie Hall,” “Deer Hunter,” “At Close Range,” and “Pulp Fiction” dancing to “Weapon of Choice” with a look of glee in his eyes which would send children running.
Sorry I cannot find a decent link for the video on the web. It is in heavy rotation on MTV2, and I’m sure you can find it through the MTV site.
I like the video. It doesn’t creep me out; I think it’s funny. I’d rank it right up there with the “Buddy Holly” and “Sabotage” videos in Spike Jonze’s oeuvre.
I think it’s hilarious, like on The Simpsons when they had Christopher Walken reading fairy talkes to children. Sheer comedy. The only thing for him to do that could be any more funnier would be for him to star the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He was a song and dance man before her was an actor, I’m sure that made this job a bit easier on him.
Welcome to the boards, Jesse and by the way…
It’s my 700th POST! WOO! ::uncorks the naked women and fondles the wine::
Well, after trying unsuccessfully for 2 hours to view the video, I finally saw it. I thought it was pretty damn clever.
Why the Hell don’t these artists release their videos in some form for download? I could see why they wouldn’t if they earned revenue - any revenue - from selling them. But most videos one cannot purchase, for any amount of money.
I have downloaded more than 20 videos, ALL of which are unavailable for purchase. Yes, I contacted the companies, and they say “sorry”. Well, viewing these over something as unreliable and crappy as RealPlayer really bites. I don’t know why they can’t just make it an MPEG and let people download. And then, if they start to sell them, crack down and start charging people.
Back when I used to watch Rosie O’Donnel (I was young and naive) she was playing a game with a celebrity (can’t remember who). Anyway, the celebrity would hold up a picture, and Rosie would give hints until the celebrity could guess who the picture was.
So they held up a pic of Chris Walken. Rosie’s clue: “Scariest man alive!”
Celebrities 1st guess: “Chris Walken!”
Cracked me up.
I think the video is the coolest thing I have seen in a very long time.
My SO thinks it was filmed at the Bonadventure in L.A., but when I got to view the video (on streaming video–very choppy, had a hard time viewing it), I couldn’t tell. I’ve only been in the Bonadventure once, and it looks similar, but I’m not sure.
I was at Circuit City yesterday and saw Christopher Walken dancing around on TV. The sound was off, and all I could think was, “What the hell is that?!” Thanks for cluing me in. Pretty damn funny now that I know what’s going on.
I don’t usually watch videos–didn’t even know they showed them anymore–but I’ll have to keep my eye out for this one.
Hell, you got yourself the psycho from The Prophecy films, Nick of Time, Last Man Standing and dozens of other weird movies. I think that’s what makes it so damn funny (at least the first couple of times, after that it’s just some weird dude dancing).
Yeah, I don’t see how anyone could not like this video. And I don’t like videos in general.
Did anyone see Christopher Walken on Conan O’Brian (I think)a few months back? Chris said he’d like to have his own cooking show, just filming him in his kitchen while he prepared food - that would be a TV show worth watching.
I love this video. And to give you an idea, I’m sitting here watching the end of VH1’s 100 best videos list, and I haven’t liked any of them I’ve seen in the last half hour or so.
Christoper Walken was actually starring in a Broadway musical adaptation of James Joyces’ “The Dead” about a year and a half ago. Was supposedly quite good.
