Anyone Else Going to Read.....

The Glorious Appearing?

I am informed that the 12th volume in the apparently endless Left Behind series is descending into bookstores on a cloud of angels March 30.

Yes, I know. The series is grotesquely padded, with cardboard characters and an endless appetite for theological arguments that make no sense to me at all. I managed to plow thru Armageddon, although I seriously considered chucking the thing. But I persevered. And the only real plot development, the death of the two characters, came at the end. So I am obviously being set up.

Now the latest is about the earth at the time when Christ returns. Can they possibly make that boring or dumb-sounding?

I can’t tell if Reappearing is the one that takes place mostly in heaven, although the excerpt makes it seem not to be so. I thought I read somewhere that there was going to be this one, another that takes place in Heaven, and then a prequel. But Jenkins and LaHaye are touting another series they want to start, which is sort of a cross between Left Behind and the “West Wing”, of all things. So maybe they will (finally) wrap this series up, and go on to further triumphs.

And I can finally finish Emma, by Jane Austen.

Anyone else as big a sucker as me, and will also read the thing? 'Fess up!

Regards,
Shodan

Ugh. Me.

These books are so badly written… but I’ve read the other 11. 11? Come on, now! This could have easily been done in 4 books. Ya get the feeling that the writers saw that people were buying and stretched it out just a bit?? 1 book covered less that 2 hours of time, fer cryin’ out loud!

I know this will be just as bad - kinda like a bad TV-movie-of-the-week. If they make God a WASPy old man with a long flowing beard, I’m gonna be so mad.

But this is the last one, right? Right??

I’m almost ashamed to admit that I read some of these… the first 6 or 7, I think. They were so padded and full of filler that I just quit reading them. I lost all interest. I read the one that just covered 2 or 3 hours, and maybe the one after that, but that was it.
Yes, they could have easily finished it off in 4 or 5 books, and kept it tight and more exciting.

I may read this last one…I’ve made it through all the others, so I feel like I have to at least finish it.

I won’t purchase it though, and I can’t read it until after my comprehensive exam on 4/2 anyway, so it doesn’t matter when my hold comes up at the library. It’s going to be awful…really, I know it is. But it’s like a train wreck that I have to watch the end of.
