It’s basically ruined the internet for me. I’ve gone back to watching TV.
I think it’s fugly too. I have a toolbar shortcut (is that what it’s called?) to Hotmail next to one for Google Maps, and I’m finding them annoyingly similar. The colours are nearly identical, only rotated 90 degrees to the right, and the “g” kind of breaks the space up like the Window’s logo is.
If they were trying to look like Google is a product associated with MS Windows, they’ve succeeded. If they were looking for their own product identity, well, to use an internet meme… FAIL.
I do not like it. At least it’s still fairly simple. I also don’t like Google’s increasingly busy (as in too much information) search pages. Keep it simple, folks. The magic should happen behind the scenes of my browser window.
I hate the new icon. I also hate that the newspaper moved “Mary Worth” to the other side of the page.
Jesus, hasn’t that old bat died by now?
I don’t like it. It looks incomplete and thrown together.
What’s the big deal? Yeah, they have the design fidgets and had to have something new. Marginally annoying, I guess, until I got used to it, which took the unbelievably long time of a day or two.
Obviously the problem is you’re using Hotmail, not Gmail!
I guess there’s a small chance they’re deliberately trying to confuse people. But is that really the reason, and if it is, does it have a net positive effect for Google?
Heh, I got this Hotmail account long before Gmail was an option, and I get surprisingly little spam through it, considering it is my spam account (apparently, I never give out any email address!) I still get emails for one particular event/activity through that account, and it would involve making 100% sure 30+ people used a new address… otherwise I’d ditch it.
I would get a Gmail account, but I feel checking the 4 separate addresses I have now is already enough!
Not to beat a dead horse, but I do believe you could have all your hotmal mail forwarded to gmail, until at least people learn your new address.
I think you should beat the dead horse.
Fuckin dead horses, always comin into our land and takin our jobs. I’ma beat that sucker. Beat im good.
I thought I was the only one odd enough to be bothered by it. I am pleased to know I was wrong. It bothers me, in that niggling “something is wrong, but I can’t quite place what it is” way.
Let the beatings continue…
I could forward my accounts… but I don’t wanna. No reason, really, other than habit at this point.
And to comment again on the actual topic of this thread, my husband doesn’t mind the new Google icon. He thinks I’m crazy in thinking it looks too much like a Microsoft thing. But then, I still use Hotmail, so I just might be crazy
So how soon before they change the multi-color swirl that is the Google Desktop icon?
Or the multi-colored Chrome boob.
