Im smitten. Long before even MSNBCs show, The Site, I glimpsed her on some future tech Discovery channel show and tumbled.
Shes half black Cuban and half Australian Irish (or would that be Irish Austalian?) What a combination! Yes, I know shes a Harvard grad who writes articles and give lectures on cyberlife for women, she`s artiulate and intelligent, but that is not what I watch the screen.
I say, kick Katie Couric out to pasture, and give me Soledad for two hours every morning! (err...that didn`t come out quite right.)
There was a conversation at work the other day about attractive newscasters and my nomination was Soledad O’Brien. And I haven’t even seen her since The Site, I didn’t even know if she was still working.
Soledad has won journalism awards from African-American, Hispanic and Irish-American groups. So a week after being told shes done fine work promoting the image of Latino women in the media, shes in Dublin being told she`s a fine little coleen.
We need a Newsbabe site. Many weary men and women have their spirits lifted by turning off the sound on some dreary political fabrications or lurid crime, and instead studying the faces of women like Soledad. The Weather Channel is also warmly appreciated this way, and I dare say many of you guys with a fondness for a certain weatherbabe can name every state on the map, just by osmosis.
Her real name was Maria de la Soledad something, and I might guess she was named after a saint.
Her name, although distinctive, does sound like an Irish prison or some sort of spicy potatoes.
As for how it sounds when calling it out in a passionate moment, well, dreams fade when we wake. Still, maybe I`ll do something incredibly notorious and insist that I will only grant an interview with one specific reporter.
Memorial day weekend, I was up in NYC and went to see the Today Show. I was outside and saw Katie and Soledad. Wow, Soledad is BEAUTIFUL. But I gotta admit…I got a little thing for Katie. Heh.
If it weren’t for Bill Hemmer, I would never watch the news. At approximately 6:57 pm, whenever I’m at home, I have a minor internal struggle - should I watch Friends, Seinfeld, or Bill? Bill always wins. When I refer to my future husband, everyone who knows me knows I’m talking about Bill.
