There was a recent Chrome update that seems to have caused this. See this thread for details.

The problem only appears to affect the mobile theme (Sultantheme’s Responsive vB3-Blue), so switching to the Straight Dope v3.7.3 theme will fix it. If you don’t know how to switch themes, it’s a pull-down menu down near the lower left corner of the page on just about every page on the SDMB, just above the copyright stuff.
