The vast majority of thread reports are dealt with without the mod commenting at all.
I too am disappointed in the shortage of snark on display in this thread.
You’ll likely only receive a response if you use the “Something Else” option, which unlike the other three (Inappropriate, Off Topic, and Spam) allows you to explain what the report was for. That allows the mod to give feedback on why the report was either accepted or not (although most are cleared without comment).
I think the harshest comment I’ve ever got was “Get a grip, Francis!” from a mod who thought I was over-reacting to something.
I had an experience with @Hari_Seldon and @What_Exit where they were reviewing a flag of mine. I felt that another poster was making a bad faith argument, especially in considering the cites they were using [ not going into details because it’s not appropriate to this thread ]. They responded that it was possible, but that the best option was to show why the the argument and the cites were bad.
Since I was in the process of doing so at the time ( I flagged the post and then replied), I certainly agreed with them, and found their responses cogent and to the point. Their language didn’t endeavor to be on the level of an academic review - just clear and direct. Which, if one squinted though a deeply foggy welding mask, could come off as ‘snarky’ or flippant, but it would take a huge stretch.
I also wanted to ask the OP - are you asking for more moderation in that you felt your concerns were not addressed correctly, or just unhappy with the language used? I know several users are feeling more comfortable as the previous lack of mods had let abusive behavior slide. I also know that some who were used to more lax modding have been complaining that it’s too aggressive.
Personally I was a LOOOONG time lurker on the boards but only joined after discourse, as the previous system seemed less user friendly to me, and of course, with COVID, I was getting starved for some additional interaction that I was missing Offline. I feel that while occasionally the Journeything mods have been a touch overenthusiastic, then have also been quick to admit mistakes and correct them after review in ATMB or with other mods.

I agree. The ability for a newcomer to a position to be willing to re-examine their decisions is a very good sign.

I’ve never had a snarky reply from a mod, but sometimes they send me messages showing how they screw around with Omar_Little. Some of them are pretty funny. Plus, the mods need something to do besides banning people so I say let them have their fun.

Part of screwing around is not telling what’s happening behind the scenes, so don’t expect a truthful answer.
Mostly just by sending only him snarky replies to reported posts. Sometimes they just whistle a little tune.
Maybe Disco-Bot has been tasked with sending out the Mod replies.

For what it is worth, I think most of the non-canned replies are coming from us journeymods as we’re feeling our way in the job. It helps to try to explain our decisions or get more feedback. I don’t recall seeing any snarky comments and Omar hasn’t been back to say more.
