Well, the Late Late Show has a new host, Craig Ferguson, aka, the British boss on Drew Carey. He’s actually pretty damned amusing. He’s pretty silly and has a good personality. Can’t say if he does good interviews yet (he’s only had a few nights really).
So anyone else watching? What do you think?
I adore him. He’s silly, he’s funny (two separate things) and he’s very easy to look at. Moreover, his interview skills are really surprisingly good, given that it’s not his background. (Compared, for instance, to early Conan or Jimmy Kimmel, who still sucks nearly a year into things.)
As much as I love Conan, I hope Craig’s ratings pick up from where the low point they had hit at the end of the Kilbourne reign of terror.
Seems a wee bit stiff to me, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. There’s plenty of time for him to grow into the part.
I saw him doing his stand-up stuff many years ago, when he performed under the name “Bing Hitler”. Glad his career is still going, he hasn’t been heard of over here much recently.
Well all I can say is that he’s much better than Kilborn ;). I do enjoy the utterly sillyness, and Craig seems like a good guy. He kind of has this “Did I really get the job” point of view. A lot of Scottish jokes and I wonder if he’ll move away from that as he gets more settled (not that I don’t like them, but at some point they may get stale).
He’s not afraid of a good gay joke – by that I don’t mean a joke which makes fun of gay people, but hitting on Jeremy Piven and saying things like he hoped that his pants didn’t fly off when Julian McMahon was on.
For this, I’m loving him even more.
Are we the only three people watching the poor lad?
I’m watching. I like him, though the first couple days seemed a bit off compared to his trial week back in November or whenever, but he seems to be settling in nicely.
I watched. I liked him a lot. He’s really good. But he’s not going to win me over from Conan.
Although, I’ll probably watch him if Conan is running a repeat that I’ve already seen.
