Anyone else still a little peeved about Phoebe Cates' career?

Without question, her seminal work in Fast Times at Ridgemont High made her an icon, which was followed by several standout performances (Lace comes to mind), but then she up and married my arch nemesis Kevin Kline and pretty much quit working.

Anyone else besides me still mourn this turn of events?

The red bikini scene was my desktop up until I got married. Just think how many more movies she could have gotten naked in if she hadn’t met Kevin.

Ahh, yes, I still remember plotzing in the theater when the red bikini scene played. Afterword, I was like, did that really happen or did I dream it? Best thing ever?

“Plotzing”?

Is Yiddish my friend. ;j

I loved her in Princess Caraboo, and wondered what had happened to her.

As a teenager, I was not the type to drool over actresses, but Phoebe managed to win my heart. To this day, she’s the only actress I’ve ever had a crush on.

I didn’t discover her until her “Gremlins” phase, and I didn’t see “Fast Times” until a good ten years after its production. You can imagine my reaction to the Bikini Scene…

It’s sad that she fizzled out so quickly. But maybe she didn’t enjoy the limelight and it was her choice to settle down and raise a family. In which case I don’t blame her in the least.

She was in “Drop Dead Fred” as well, which, although far from spectacular, was greatly improved by her presence.

I don’t think it was a fizzle. I think it was a conscious decison on her part to focus on her family.

Y’all forgot about the Blue Lagoon ripoff Paradise.

Much as Willie Aames has been trying to do for the last 20 years.

C’mon! Charles in Charge, Eight is [del]Too Much[/del] Enough, BibleMan…hell, Paradise IS his seminal work!

Feh. Nothing will ever compare to his masterful portrayal of Crazy Willie Aames on Celebrity Fit Club 2. I mean really, when Gary Busey is all, woah that guy’s messed up…

And with a third child due, she’s not likely to be reappearing in any movies soon.

No, I’m not peeved. I’m just damned jealous of Kevin Kline… that lucky bastard.
