Anyone else's BSometer pinging a bit with this "Kidanpped in Kyrgyzstan" story?

Search for Missing U.S. Servicewoman Continues in Kyrgyzstan

Found Air Force major arrives in Germany
U.S. officer allegedly beaten in Kyrgyzstan, now in military hospital

A lot of these pointless, bizarro, no-ransom demand, mystery kidnappings turn out to be some kind of stunt perpetrated by the purported abducted person. This is kind of smelling the same way.

Could be.

Personally I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt, until/unless the preponderance of evidence goes the other way.

I’ll admit, something about this story just doesn’t smell right. First I heard that her head had been shaved, then I heard her hair was dyed a dark shade. Then she was kidnapped by a group of men, then she was kidnapped by 3 men and a woman. I wonder if we’ll ever hear the whole story.

Which is it? Has she still got hair, or was she shaven?

I’ve met her father-in-law, but I didn’t know this little tidbit until I saw it in print today in Stars and Stripes:

The call with news of Metzger’s recovery came from the Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations; both Joshua Mayo, her husband, and his father, Kelly Mayo, are OSI agents, as well.

I doubt we’ll ever know the full story.

Tabby

Yes my BS meter went to the red when I read it. It’s still there.

Sounds shady, not sure if it’s hijinks from the major or another entity… but it doesn’t sound right. Especially the part about how she was abducted.

I’ve also wondered about it from the beginning. The lack of detail seems quite strange. But then again, that doesn’t prove anything.

Same here. The whole thing just feels really strange, and has since the beginning.

Found this.
