Anyone ever try generic beer?

It was featured in the movie repo man. Stuff was vile. I thought Lucky Lager was vile and I drank enough Schmidt that the 12 pack cartons wall papered the entire apartment only partly into the school year.

I was a can collector way back when and as a result of that fact drank some of the worst panther piss you can imagine. “Beer” probably fell somewhere midrange of lower rank beers. My go-to beer in those economically challenged days was Heilman’s Old Style which was, IMHO, the best cheap beer around.

I heard rumors that closer to St. Louis it was Stag, but Falstaff had our market for BEER.
And seriously, it wasn’t that horrible. I’d rank it with the Red, White & Blue brand of the day, and better than Old Milwaukee.

Okay, is the hard booze under the sink a thing? Maybe with certain drinkers? My dad did the same thing in his alcoholic days, but this is the first I’ve heard.

I remember seeing as a wee lad an episode of “One Day at a Time” where Schneider (the creepy super) brought “Champagne” in a plain white can to a party. Never got the joke until recently.
