It has been so long since I have seen it (theatrical run) that I remember little of it, other than a vague feeling of dissatisfaction. Will put it on the ‘must watch’ list for this year.
I don’t think I saw it in the theaters but just saw it again for the nth time and I have a question. At one point, we’re told that the little non-verbal boy hasn’t spoken since he saw his father murdered five years prior, but how old is he supposed to be? He looked three or four.
You may remember the movie starts with a promo for a Santa Claus movie where terrorists attack Santa’s workshop called “The Night the Reindeer Died”. Santa and the elves go to the armory and get loaded down with guns. Lee Majors shows up with a gatling gun to help Santa fight off the attackers. Well, it looks like someone turned that into a movie. I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but the 2020 movie Fatman is essentially that movie. Mel Gibson plays Santa, who has pissed off a bratty kid by giving him a lump of coal. As revenge, the kid hires an assassin to find and kill Santa. Santa has a fully-stocked armory for himself and the elves. A bloody gunbattle ensues. I guess Frank Cross and the IBC network were just ahead of their time.
You forgot about “Tiny Tim”?
I think it’s because it wasn’t necessary to make them work on Christmas. He elected to have them broadcast live instead of recording earlier depriving them of the opportunity to spend the time with their family. I’ve also worked jobs where I had to work holidays, including Christmas, but never one where an employer went out of their way to make a lot of us work that day.
