Anyone getting Spore?

I’m not sure the game actually lets you eat eggs in Creature mode. You can raise domesticated animals for eggs in Tribe, but the few times I’ve tried clicking on non-allied creatures’ eggs in Creature mode nothing seems to happen.

My creature was able to eat eggs. Maybe they need to be a certain size?

Unless the egg just happened to hatch right under him and right after I had clicked in that vicinity.

Conquering planets becomes significantly easier once you can boil or freeze them with your various rays.

But the game is starting to become repetetive. Maybe they should have called it ‘Snore’?

I’m fed up with space. It’s a wonder full stage, but I’m giving up for a couple days because I just spend the GNP of Denmark trying to get a planet to tier 2 and it… just… won’t. It natually goes up and to the left, so I used a dehumidifier and meteor storm to bring it, it missed just barely so I think “okay, no problem” and go quickly to buy another meteor (since it was below the atmosphere line) this takes five seconds and I come back, I use the meteors but the atmosphere thing was so quick it actually missed it again even though if I used a unatmosphere thing it would have completely missed in the other direction. Repeat a bunch of near misses several times, occasionally trading spice in between for a break. I think I’ll try again when I’m not pissed at that planet (my pink spice planet, which along with my T2 green spice is the most profitable).

Does the game just grab the stuff you make and drop it on other planets, then? Hell, I’d spend hours just creating stuff!

Eggs give big DNA bonuses. Always kill them in creature phase (unless you’re allied of course).

Make sure you’re in hostile stance and attack.

edit: Well by big I mean 25 which isn’t that huge I overstated a bit.

Really? I must be doing something wrong. I’ve gone back and tried attacking them a few more times. I get food, but no DNA bonus or count towards extincting the target species.

It won’t run for some reason on my machine.
I hope I heven’t wasted €50

That’s strange. I agree on the no kill count part but I always get 25 DNA from eggs.

I don’t think I do anything special. Just hit the attack button once and let him go at it until the egg breaks (about five attacks I guess).

Does it just crash before it even loads? Did you have the creature creator already installed? If so remove the creature creator and reinstall the game.

Tried it a few more times. I get 25 DNA sometimes from breaking eggs. Not sure what the pattern is.

It does, and I don’t.
I can’t figure it out.

Your stuff, Maxis’ stuff, and anyone anyone else’s stuff that you let in.

Now that I’m able to share stuff again, anyone want a Vogon cube?

For those who aren’t aware: the last home nest you have in Creature stage will be the location of your village in Tribal and Civ. If you don’t like where your home nest is, you can move it by mating with your species in a different nest.

Is the planet climate resetting, or are you going from one extreme to the other? If it’s resetting, what you need to do is have new plants in your hold that you can plant as soon as you’re done with the climate machines. If it’s the other problem then I don’t know.

The problem I’m having is that one of my new space neighbors has decided to go on a crusade against all those who do not follow the way of Spode. They have made a hobby of trashing my planet every 5 minutes. I’m trying to earn some money so I can return the favor, but they already stole my one colony and I can’t start more without them conquering it instantly. It’s frustrating.

Oh, and here’s my Spore page:

I’ve been at war with one species while allied with all the rest in my local star cluster for a while - and then unlocked planetbusters and thought “Well, might as well use one!”. Instant war status with everyone, excepting the species I uplifted (not sure whether that’s on purpose or not). Fun!

I just bought it Sunday and am just starting the civilization stage. The cellular and creature phases were great fun, but the tribal stage just seemed a bit sparse.

Maybe I was playing it wrong, but there didn’t really seem to be anything for my tribesmen to do if they weren’t out interacting with the neighbors, other than gather fruit. I started off with a full corral of domesticated animals (I thought it was a bit disturbing that my former packmates were now my farm chattel), so I had to wait for a raider to take off with one before I could get points for domesticating a new one.

Anyway, I’m just beginning the civilization phase and I’m trying to not lose interest at having to design everything my creatures live in. It’s fun at first but tends to drag after a while. Well, I’m enjoying it so far, so here goes…

Oh, and I’m signed up using the same name, if anyone wants to look for my creatures.

Don’t forget that you can install buildings made by others (even Maxis) instead of designing your own. Just open the Sporepedia instead of the editor.

I personally think this is a really fascinating game, and one with far more depth than people are giving it credit on their first run-throughs. There’s a lot you can miss. For example, people are saying there’re only three different units in Civ; actually, you can get up to nine different units (three land, three air, three water) if you conquer cities with different ethics and let the cities retain theirs (economic, military, religous.) Some cities are easier to conquer with trade buyouts, or propaganda, than military force. You don’t have to use only the ethic of your original city. Of course your choices here affect the Space stage in interesting ways.

If it’s “too easy,” play it on hard. I do agree that there should be a setting past hard, one where you have to make absolutely no mistakes and get kind of lucky to win. I found tribal and civ and space all rather challenging on “hard.”
