Anyone going to be alone for Thanksgiving?

Too long to go into but it looks like I’m on my own for Thanksgiving; not sure what I"m going to do. Any ideas?

Alone except for my dog and 2 cats. By choice - my husband is out of town helping his folks with some legal issues and I don’t feel like driving 2+ hours to my mom’s house. I was invited to dinner by a friend, but I just want to veg. I’m expecting to have a non-productive day full of TV and napping. No feasting, altho I do have a recipe for sweet potato pancakes that I may try out.

Yeah, I know, boring…

I live alone, I have no family nearby.

But I’m a store cashier, so I’ll be working, and probably getting lots of sympathy and T-day leftovers.

We always have seats at the table for “loners” - my older daughters new BF is stranded with his parents going out of town and family a long ways off, so that’s one. We’ve had near-strangers some years - visiting colleagues, FOAFs, the like.

But I’ve had one or two “alone” holidays, too. Can be very nice "me’ days. Or not.

Yep, watching Manos Hands of Fate and maybe some MST3K’d Gamera movies, and having tea with turkey and cranapple chutney sandwiches.

I’ll have T-day to myself, which is okay with me. I think I’ll be watching the MST3K Turkey Day Marathon.

I’m not really sure. I hope so, but my brother informed me that he and mom want to come up and we should go somewhere for a meal (since they know I won’t cook) and wanted me to find a place to go. It being a holiday and all, places that are open are pretty scarce but I found two and told him about it. I haven’t heard anything since.

Me! 4 days off with no visitors anticipated. I can watch football all day Thursday, cook and eat what and when I want to, and decompress for a few.

Do to the schedule of family, I’ve had my “Thanksgiving” visit already, and “Christmas” won’t be until early January. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy family visits, but it’s nice every now and then to just have a 4 day weekend all to myself. And they’d better keep an eye on me this afternoon, I might get a head start.

I wish.

me too id rather go to the all you can eat buffet and not worry about much …

No, my dog will join me.

Yes. :frowning:

It’ll be his eleventh Thanksgiving with me. He will be getting loads of turkey and stuffing and potatoes.

I’ll be alone. I moved to a new city this past summer where I have no family, and haven’t gotten out and made connections enough yet to get invited to any local Thanksgiving dinners. My aunt and uncle, who hosted for many years, are not hosting this year since 3 of their 4 kids aren’t coming in from out of town, my mother is volunteering at her church, my father is remarried to a woman he cheated on my mother with so I don’t feel like associating with them, my brother and his family are staying home, and I don’t know what my sister and her family are doing. So I have no Thanksgiving dinner to go “home” to.

I’m going to make a roast turkey breast, mashed sweet potatoes, and balsamic-glazed Brussels sprouts, and spend the day playing video games and just enjoying not being at work!

Me too. I love my wife and family, but a day or two alone at home sounds like heaven.

It was over a month ago (note my location), but yes I was alone for Thanksgiving. I just spent the day playing [del]with[/del] by myself. Computer games, TV, that sort of thing.

Me too. And thankful for that. Always lots of projects to be done here. Also don’t have to face my right wing family so close to the election of the Circus Peanut.
Not sure I could remain civil if the subject comes up. Maybe I’ll be ready next year.

A neighbor, who moved a few miles away last month, insists that I come to her place for dinner. I tried to beg off, thinking it an intrusion into her family time, but she won’t take No for an answer. It will be the first time in a decade I’ve been away from home on Thanksgiving.

I’ll be here at work in a big empty office building. It’ll be boring, but I’d prefer it to my housefull of football hooligans. I’ll get home at like 10:30pm and hopefully most of them will have left by then.

Of course, we just had a UPS unit blow up today, so there might actually be some excitement here tomorrow if they can’t get it fixed tonight.

I’ll be on my own here in Germany, my husband is away at a conference.

I’m making up a big batch of turkey chili (I was pleased to find turkey in the supermarket!) and gearing up for the Gilmore Girls revival on Friday.

All in all not too bad. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday actually, but I don’t think it will be so bad. I’ll be a little lonesome, but I’ll Skype with my parents in the evening.

I’m usually alone on Thanksgiving. Most years I still cook a turkey dinner for myself (and have leftovers for a week). I had a friend over last year. This year, she invited me, but I’ll probably pass. I’ve been in a foul mood lately; probably just cook something simple at home.

I was in Germany for Thanksgiving once. I decided to make it my mission to still have turkey. I found an America cafe that had turkey chunks in a tomato sauce served over rice. I have never seen, or even heard of, anything like it in America.

Me, 4 dogs and a cat. I got a small smoked turkey breast, making a bit of stuffing and roasted cauliflower & broccoli with bacon & velveeta. Pumpkin pie for dessert. Likely won’t hear a human voice all day.
