Anyone had to deal with Cross Country Bank?

2 weeks ago one of my soldiers needed a new car. She was trying to get a loan and having a hard time getting one. Eventually she did, but I had one of the NCO’s go with her and help out because I didn’t want the soldier going to any shady ripoff car/loan places and getting screwed.

Because I know what a nightmare it can be. Today I got a letter from a collection agency from mother fucking Cross Country Bank. 12 years ago when I was a lot dumber, I got a credit card from them. I never, ever ever used the card but they charged me every month for any bullshit services they could tack on, even when I called them and told them to cancel my card. I grudgingly paid them some stupid fee that they claimed I owed them and cut ties.

I busted my ass to clean up my credit in the last ten years and I have good credit now. CCB wasn’t on my credit report a month ago when I rented this house. Heck, the realtor told me I should think about buying a house. Today I get a letter from them saying I owe them over 800 bucks! I refuse to play this game and pay them, so I will be going to the finance office on post in the next frew days and if I have to the JAG office. This is insanity. I haven’t had anything to do with them for ten years plus, I never charged a damned thing and now they have the gall to tell me I owe them money? Cross Country Bank is a scam and ot makes me angry that they are preying on people in this way.

My question is has anyone else dealt with them? How difficult is this going to be to get them to leave me alone. I honestly don’t owe them a cent and I refuse to pay them. Seriously, if what they’re doing isn’t a crime it should be. Any advice on how to deal with this annoyance?

I had a card with them and they were never out of line. Have you called them to ask about the $800?

Statute of limitations is surely over on this one.

We had one of these years ago and cancelled it due to the fact that they nickeled and dimed you to death. They actually charged a fee for paying online, and charged a fee if you called to inquire about the balance.

An article on Rocco Abessinio, the founder of Cross Country Bank. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but at one time, he was listed in a court document as the sole shareholder in CCB.

I hate Cross Country. When I had a card from them they charged late charges every month no matter when I sent in a payment. They claimed in the beginning that it was due to the time it takes them to process the paperwork. I was to pay for their inefficiency. Then I sent it progressively earlier. Two weeks early would not allow me to escape a late charge. They were lying and robbing me every month. Fuck them.

Yes, I have dealt with them in the past. From what I recall they specialize in poor credit loans/credit cards. This was years ago but I think my card had a $500 limit. Its been years but I paid off the debt long ago, I don’t recall any specific problems with them.
