2 weeks ago one of my soldiers needed a new car. She was trying to get a loan and having a hard time getting one. Eventually she did, but I had one of the NCO’s go with her and help out because I didn’t want the soldier going to any shady ripoff car/loan places and getting screwed.
Because I know what a nightmare it can be. Today I got a letter from a collection agency from mother fucking Cross Country Bank. 12 years ago when I was a lot dumber, I got a credit card from them. I never, ever ever used the card but they charged me every month for any bullshit services they could tack on, even when I called them and told them to cancel my card. I grudgingly paid them some stupid fee that they claimed I owed them and cut ties.
I busted my ass to clean up my credit in the last ten years and I have good credit now. CCB wasn’t on my credit report a month ago when I rented this house. Heck, the realtor told me I should think about buying a house. Today I get a letter from them saying I owe them over 800 bucks! I refuse to play this game and pay them, so I will be going to the finance office on post in the next frew days and if I have to the JAG office. This is insanity. I haven’t had anything to do with them for ten years plus, I never charged a damned thing and now they have the gall to tell me I owe them money? Cross Country Bank is a scam and ot makes me angry that they are preying on people in this way.
My question is has anyone else dealt with them? How difficult is this going to be to get them to leave me alone. I honestly don’t owe them a cent and I refuse to pay them. Seriously, if what they’re doing isn’t a crime it should be. Any advice on how to deal with this annoyance?
