Basically, my PS2 doesn’t read the disc. I was able to play it for a week, but after that, it’s a “disc read error” every time. It’s not as though the game is damaged, either; when it first started malfunctioning, it had all the wear and tear of being moved once, from the box to the PS2. So I thought it might be the PS2 - except all my other games are playing just fine.
Tonight, in my frustration, I bought a brand new copy of FFX-2. This one’s not working at all. WHY? Are these just shoddy copies of the game, or could there be another reason why this particular game refuses cannot be played on my system?
I’m having trouble with the FFX-2 CD as well. I just keep turning the machine on and off until it works. But I didn’t think it was a FFX-2 CD, because I have this problem with various other CDs including DVDs.
The problem is not your disc. It’s your PS2. I had this problem trying to play “Kingdom Hearts”. You’ll notice that FFX-2 is a silver backed disc. This requires both lasers to be operational. Not every game requires both; blue back discs for instance only require one. Your PS2 needs to be repaired or replaced.
Ohhhh. Maggie, that makes sense. Well, off I go with my screwdriver and q-tips, and if that doesn’t work, I guess my husband’s getting a new PS2 for Christmas.
