I love my baseball on the Net, but it’s been a horrendous week. Everything was fine until last Sunday, but since then, log-ins to ads that freeze in the middle and no game, poor transmission, and tonight a blank screen. It doesn’t work at all.
Meanwhile, MLB Support (when it works) tells us “do you have Silverlight”, “did you delete your cache” and blahblahblah while it’s obvious (I’m not alone) that it’s their problem. Yesterday, they finally acknowledged that they’re into some “work in progress”, whatever.
Any MLB.TV subscriber here who has experienced the same problems? If so, please share your despair. I’ll feel better.
Yeah, I dumped it because of the lagginess-that was 2 weeks ago, so if it’s gotten worse since then I’m not aware of it.
I’ve had some various problems. Main one is getting the game is blacked out in your area. I know all Texas Rangers and Houston Astros games are blacked out, although we’re not in the Astros media market.
But, I’ve had quite a few games blacked out even though they’re 1000 miles away from Texas and don’t have the Astros or the Rangers.
Yep, and it sucks. If they don’t improve the service, i won’t bother next year.
If you go to the MLB forums, there have been heaps of complaints about it there over the past couple of months, especially the new Mosaic feature, but also a whole bunch of other stuff.
I’ve had pretty good luck with the service since I started using it a couple years ago. I’ve been able to get the service to work in Leopard, XP and Vista using Firefox 2.0. IE7 seems to have trouble connecting a lot for some reason. I do sometimes get Mariners games blacked out even though I’m not in a blackout area, but I just call them and they put me on some sort of whitelist that usually lasts about 60 days. They told me the blackout area is based on the zip code your IP is registered to, and even though I’m physically about 30 miles east of Seattle, my IP says I’m actually in Seattle.
