Anyone here have a cold-war-era bomb shelter...

…on their property?

How big is it? How old is it? Have you used it? Pics?

… and does anybody have a post- cold-war-era bomb shelter, and, if so, why?

There’s plenty of defunct military shelters around here…want me to break into some for you?

(although I do know of people who’ve done just that…)

When I lived back home in New Jersey, a friend of mine had one in his cellar. It was a 10’x10’ room of concrete-filled cinderblock in his basement with what I call a “fold over” entrance (one wall, covered by another longer wall).

They used it mainly for storage of tools and whatnot. That was about it. I saw a similar picture of a design for it in my folks old 1963 World Book (don’t ask, but it was an awesome source of Cold War information and U.S. propaganda).

Did anyone use it? I don’t know. That was years ago. The only time I needed to use a shelter was 9/11, but that was pre-built and in Kuwait.

Tripler
But I do know there were multiple post Cold War shelters built in anticipation of “Y2K”.
