So we had our first porn incident at the Smoke house this week. A 10 year old + a wide open connection + an errant search = AIIIEEEEE!
This has led us to look at filtering software – Net Nanny, Cyber Sitter, etc.
Has anyone here used one of these? Do they work? Are they overzealous in their screening? Underzealous?
My kids aren’t at the stage where they are actively looking for adult sites on the web (not yet, anyway). We just want something to make sure that accidents don’t happen.
I try to do all the smart net things – Firefox, Zone Alarm, AVG anti-virus, Adaware, Spybot, etc. But none of that can prevent the young Smokie from searching for Zelda video game hints and getting an entirely different sort of web site featuring an entirely different young lady named Zelda. And let me tell you, I don’t think THAT one is a princess.
