Anyone Here Work For A VA Hospital?

If so, I need some help, please?

Here in Carrollton, GA. the VA is building an outpatient clinic and I would like to volunteer my services to my fellow vets there.

I found the site where one can apply, but no one’s gotten in touch with me, and it’s been longer than 2 weeks. (They’re supposed to respond in two bus. days).

Anything else I can do? A number to call and speak to a living breathing human being?

Before I became disabled I worked as a respiratory therapist, but I can still do basic things, such as aerosol treatments, teach breathing exercises, pulse oxes, etc., and it would be great to be able to do some of that again, especially since I live only about 1/2 mile away from there.

Thanks!

What you can do is get in touch with the volunteer coordinator at the VA hospital that oversees the outpatient clinic. I’m not sure which VA hospital that would be, but that’s something you can easily find out. Talk to this person directly.

That said, I’m not sure you’d be allowed to do patient care; most volunteers are there for morale and some administrative tasks, but this is something you’d be able to discuss with the volunteer coordinator.

Hi, MsRobyn

A nice lady from the Atlanta VA Hospital wrote me an e-mail which stated I need to attend a training meeting for prospective volunteers at the hospital, and she gave me several dates to choose from

We plan to go to the construction site tomorrow and ask for the projected date of completion so that I can choose the meeting closest to that date (so I won’t forget anything:)).

I’m excited to be able to do this even though I may not be allowed to treat patients. It will get me out of the house once again doing something constructive!

Thanks very much for the help!
