Anyone here work with "The Ladders?"

I’m thinking it is time for me to move on. My current job will likely keep me for as long as I want (even though it is an open-ended contract) but I’m ready for a change.

I want the next one to be more than just a job, maybe the place I retire from. I find I get offers pretty quickly from Monster and the others, but I want a more specialized search. I’m wondering if The Ladders provides that.

Anyone here have experience with them?

I used their services, but found my current job the old_fashioned way… networking and resume-sending.

YRMV but my experience is they simply want to separate as many members from their money as possible while providing a cookie cutter type help. I know of no one they have actually helped.

All my really good jobs always come from networking, not agencies.

I have to agree with the previous posters. The Ladders uses standard forms and does minimal or no original work on your behalf.

I once had them evaluate a professionally written resume. The review was two pages of nearly all negative boilerplate. I felt the reviewer just glanced at what I submitted.

Nick at Ask the Headhunter (search for it, I left the link on my other computer) had some choice things to say about them, and there is a good bit of experience listed in the blog. Not much of it was good. They claim that you get access to good paying jobs by paying their fee, but if you look at the fine print you’ll see they don’t even try to confirm that the jobs listed pay above their threshold. Save your money and network.

Here’s a link to the current blog with some links to Ladders stories.

Good input - thanks guys.
