Good name for a dog too
There have been two Major League Baseball players named Dakota; Dakota Hudson, who’s now in his sixth year with the Cardinals, and Dakota Bacus, who pitched briefly for Washington in 2020.
I’ve had years with Dakotas (female) in more than one of my classes.
Yep, my son’s good friend from high school is a Dakota. He’s 30 years old.
I had a younger cousin named Dakota, born in the mid 90s. He had a serious congenital heart defect, and received a transplant when he was a small child. He ultimately passed away from his condition when he was around 10.
I was thisclose to posting the kid playing Georgie Cooper on Young Sheldon, then checked and realized his name’s Montana. 
Which other states are names? I’ve known one Virginia.
Imma name my next kid Nebraska

Maybe Arizona and Florida, although I’ve never met one personally.

Casey Affleck named a kid Indiana, apparently.
Never heard of a Lousiana. Maybe Louise Anna? And I’ve mostly heard Washington as a middle name.
We had a cook who claimed her name was Louisiana. We called her Miss Lou

There were probably a passel of Washington’s in the first century of the US.
Place names and land feature names are common. IMO
In 2019 there were 32 girls born named Tennessee.
I wonder if anyone ever named their kid Arkansas?
