OK, count me in, Arden…
Pity this poor fool, for he knows not what he does…

Email, people! Send me email if you wanna play!
[sub]sheesh. You think I have nothing better to do than check this thread? Wait, don’t answer that…[/sub]
Okay. ::sigh::
I’ve got :
Aghris
MannyL
DynoSaur
RocknRoll Killing Machine
glee
Who haven’t emailed me.
Amedeus, who has emailed me and may just get extra points for reading and following instructions from his GM.
What about the rest of you?
Jeff Olsen
Obsidan Flutterby
robgruver
In or out?
Hmmm, now this sounds interesting. If the average is 4 email messages a week, I can definitely hack at least that many. Let me read all the links before I sign up, so I can see what it’s all about, though.
Is Aghris still planning on running one, too?
Well, after reading about a half-dozen websites about it, this definitely looks interesting, even if I’m not sure I understand everything. I’ve sent you an e-mail, Arden.
There’s enough of the site up for Don’t Touch Anything! for you to get more of the immediate background and to pick a parent. Normally the GM picks your parent and there’s usually a stat auction, but that’s them, this is me.
I’m interested. I’ve never played a “real” RPG, though (meaning a non-computer RPG), so you might have to put up with incompetence. Let me know if you need another player. I’ve e-mailed Arden.
I’m in but I need to read stuff… right now I don’t have time or anything… as to EZboard It’s not too bad a board here is a working exambple of an IC MB on it.
About the email… no no I can’t get another… everything is blocked from school… email (except school email), chat, free websites everything.
Um I’ll take a look at the sites probably not now as it’s late and I need to work… but most likely Monday. Sorry if I’m holding it up looks chagrined I’ll try and be quick about it.
Verrain, who shall be referred to from time to time as my SYLM, will be co-GMing this with me because of the sheer amount of new-to-Amber people.
Once We hear from everyone (at antonia@cowboy.ne), you’ll start getting more formal mail from both of us.
{b]OB**, I am familiar with the concept of MB RPG, it’s just not something I’m comfortable with for this for the reasons I stated above.
I’m curious though. How can your school block all email providers? Mine forbids things like chat programs but the only way that gets inforced is if a lab-tech catches you.
New list:
Aghris
MannyL
DynoSaur
RocknRoll Killing Machine
glee
Amedeus
LoverBoy
Kat
At the moment, **Amedeus, Kat ** and DynoSaur are the only ones I’ve gotten email from. Sooner we hear from you the sooner we can get started.
Oh, and that email agaain is antonia@cowboy.net
Thank you.
I’m in the same boat as LoverBoy, never done real role playing. I’m very interested in getting into it though. I’d like to play in this, with two provisos: that a complete newbie won’t irritate people too much and that someone can tell me a reletively painless way of finding out all the stuff I’ll need to know.
Cumber, my darling, read over the above the links.
Roleplaying is easy. It’s just pretending you’re someone else for a little while. We’ll do short backstories with you guys if you need them to help you find your character’s “voice” and get used to the medium.
I’ll add you and LoverBoy to the list.
Am in the process of doing so. The idea occurred to me a bit after I posted.
Greetings all! For those of you with no roleplaying experience except for the computer game type, let me know what type of games you have played so I know where you are coming from. For those with no experience what so ever, I would happily help you walk through the concept.
My email is ditullio@mail.med.upenn.edu
Damn you, Arden Ranger. I just bought The Great Book of Amber: The Complete Amber Chronicals, 1-10 and it’s all your fault!
Verrain, how about someone who played the original D&D RPG 2 or 3 times ages ago and currently does something resembling RPG on a mailing list?
Nahy-nahy!
The first book Nine Princes in Amber is required reading for background. The next four are more like a possible future at the point the game takes place in but it will introduce you to all the characters.
Books 5-10 will just confuse you at this point.
Well you have the concept of stepping into a character for a while, which is what I was raeally concerned about. Everything else is just details and mechanics. But if you feel you need practice role playing a character I’m happy to run you through character backstory/tutorial stuff with you. And whenever you need help with the details and mechanics I more than happy to supply it.
“For a while” Heck, I’ve been IC most of the weekend, with no way to appease her, because no one’s responded to my last actions.
I’m more concerned with trying to figure out how to put together a decent Amber character. The sites I’ve read so far seem to assume you have (or at least have read) the Amber RPG stuff.
Have no fear! We are even now working on a “Haow to make an Amber character” page for the game site! Hopefully it will be up by Tuesday
I am working on a guide that will help with that, but I’ll let you in on a little hint. The Elders, which are those you will pick one parent from, can travel to anywhere and anywhen, loving as they choose. Accordingly your character can be from anywhere and anywhen. Another thing is that to protect them from the rest of the family, the Elders tend to raise their kids in Shadow. In fact, many of them simply arrange a shadow family to raise and train their child and then show up years later to claim their child and bring them to Amber.
The upshot of it is, create any character, in any genre, with a human form. For the most part, they can be converted to Amber. But keep in the back of your head that most of this adventure will take place in a medieval fantasy style world, so make sure your character can adapt to life there and still be fun for you to play.
Really? I’ll have to pull out some of my character sketches once the Create-a-character page is up and see if any of them would work.
