Anyone know about KU-band police radar?

I’ve been reading up on some of the newer radar detectors available on the market, and have read about a band referred to as “KU” which apparently doesn’t have any usage in America, but is quite common throughout Europe. As such, just about all radar detectors made for the American market aren’t designed to detect the KU frequency band. However, I’ve also read that this form of radar will be finding increasing use in America’s police forces in the future … perhaps as a method for them to one-up radar detector owners with a new form of radar that can’t be detected by most existing radar devices. This may or may not be true, but I haven’t found any corroborative evidence to disprove it, hence my curiousity.

I suppose asking for advice about radar detection methods from anyone with knowledge or relation to a police department is a bit like going to a bank and asking them where they keep all the cash … but I’m curious whether or not any municipalities use (or are planning to use) this type of radar now or in the future.
