Anyone know where to find custom leathermakers for cosplay?

The spousal unit wants to dress up as The Comedian from Watchmen for Comic Con next year (he did it this year too and had a great costume but he wants to improve it). One of the things he’s been having trouble finding is the gloves, so he asked me to post this and see if anyone has any ideas for crafters.

Two things: 1: Neither of us are even slightly handy around a needle, so doing it ourselves isn’t an option, though altering a pair of gloves that are close might be possible. 2: He’s willing to pay a reasonable amount for good work. Here’s what he says:

"I’m looking for someone to make custom, fingerless leather gloves for my Comedian costume. I can supply them any measurements they need, and eeven send a pair of gloves that fits for them to work from. But the cuff is long and unusual, and I can find nothing like it online.

I do want to know estimated cost before I agree.

Here are some pictures of what they look like, in the context of the whole costume. Good shots of them are not easy to find.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Try Etsy. Look up the type of item you’re after and check out some shops. Most of them tell you whether or not they take custom orders somewhere on the page. There is also an option to send them a message. When you find someone who does work you like, ask them if they can take on your project. Just remember to be specific and provide as many details as you can.

I have an Etsy shop myself. I’m closed at the moment due to illness and injury but I took custom orders all the time. I enjoyed the challenge.

Forget Etsy, go straight to the specialists: Forums - Leatherworker.net
You want the “Help Wanted” subforum.

looks like some sort of a combination driving glove and archery shooting glove

Thanks for the replies! I’ll forward them on to him.

You can also try my friend - he started out making leather holsters for guns but he makes lots of other stuff as well.
