Anyone looking forward to Total War: Warhammer 3?

I think I will just give up on having A campaign haha. I will start a bunch (probably one for each race to start) and see which one captures my interest. Then I can circle back and finish them as I go.

I’m probably going to play Be’lakor first; that’s the army I’m running in 40K tabletop right now, so I might as well play the Total War version too…

I’m leaning towards doing my Chaos campaign with one of the new DLC Champions on the Realms of Chaos map because the new race campaign sounds awesome. Probably Vilitch because Tzeentch is best but Festus seems really fun too.

I’ll do Chaos on the Immortal Empires map eventually, but prooooobably as Archaon focusing on mortals, since my last RoC campaign was a Demon Prince run where I took nothing but demons. Be’Lakor does look sick though…

I never played more than a handful of turns as Cathay on ROC, so I’m pretty excited to give them a go too.

Installation complete… just in time for my weekly Tuesday morning Zoom meetings.

My favorite faction in WH2 was Warriors of Chaos, so I’m hoping the changes are still just as fun (or better), because as of now, my old favorite faction no longer exists in their original form. I was originally going to play as Archaon first, but the aforementioned 40K army gave me the idea to do Be’lakor first.

19GB patch. That is pretty big but I can live with it.

I understand he’s got some kind of rift mechanic that lets him open portals to his home province, which sounds awesome

…Be’Lakor is gonna be a better Demon Prince campaign than the Demon Prince’s own campaign, isn’t it?

Pretty much!

The fact that your main lord has no real skill tree and you have no tech tree is a real bummer.

No skill tree? How does that work?

I mean, the skill tree is a big part of the fun and important to buff your hero/lord. If there is no skill tree there is no progression. So, either the lord starts OP and gets worse over time or just sucks the whole time. What am I missing?

There IS a skill tree but it’s almost entirely weird bonuses that would normally go on a tech tree, and rhe Demon Prince progresses by unlocking body parts instead.

Honestly the current skill tree, lame as it is, plus the demon parts would be fine if we also had a skill tree…

If we also had a TECH tree.

Best part of working from home is getting to play new releases on my lunch. Started an Imrik campaign, because his start position has changed so much and because the new Game of Thrones show the other night really gave me Imrik vibes.

Eta: I’ve gotten a “bear weaver” anciliary (action success chance and leadership buffs when fighting dwarfs) from every battle so far. Imrik is gonna end up in the Book so many times…

Imrik is maybe my favorite character to play, if I can survive the first 40 rounds. I’ve had more false starts with him than with any other faction. Is his new starting position a bit less nightmarish?

I do not know about his new starting position (if he has one) but I agree. He is hang on until you get the “I win” dragons.

Grimgor and Snikch are much farther away. Instead Kugath is on a neaby island and there’s ogres to the north, dwarfs to the west, and skaven to the south.

And here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

I got in a bit of play with Be’lakor so far.

Wow, he is a beast. He regens if he is near wavering or routing units, and the more models the better; he also removes Immune to Psychology, and causes Terror… *splat*

Loving the new Warband mechanics for upgrades, it is nice being able level up marauders into Chaos Warriors, and also re-equip them as needed (side-grade from Chaos Warrior to CW with Great Weapons or Halberds). Haven’t leveled any up enough to make them into Chosen, yet, but I was able to pledge my Exalted Hero to Khorne, so now he’s an angry murder machine. I just unlocked the ability to mark my undivided units with Khorne marks, as well; haven’t unlocked any of the other marks yet (done through the tech tree).

So Sniktch is gone but Queek is nearby instead, and he’s already declared war on me. Meanwhile the orcs to the north got confederated by Badlands Orcs and I worry that all the space between me and Grimgor is taken up by orcs who he will quickly confederate.

I managed to take the Straits of Nagash from Queek. This province isn’t all that great for me, and it’s a maze of canyons that takes like 5 turns to get through, but having it is better than allowing Queek to get it and use it to launch attacks against me. And if the Skaven had managed to really establish themselves in the province rooting them out would be bloody impossible.

But this leaves me in an awkward position. I have Queek on the back foot and my natural inclination is to pursue him and take his capitol. But that would require going into the Southlands, and that’s a huge mess I’d rather not get myself involved with. Besides,I have enough problems at home…

Kugath will soon be done dealing with the lizardmen and need to be stopped. And the orcs to the north will eventually attack. The dwarf leader’s name is “Dragonslayer” so I assume that will get ugly at some point too, and the ogres keep giving me the stinkeye.

So instead I might fortify the hell out of the Straits and let Queek invade as often as he likes. My only concern is that with underway stance he can bypass my fortifications and hit my undefended core cities. But maybe I can keep a small specialized force in the area to intercept them…
