30% of annual salary PLUS profit sharing. Yay!
There were no pay raises of any type this year, they were replaced with company performance linked bonuses. If Q4 is as good as expected we’ll get between 5% and 7%. I did get a wad of stock options earlier this year as a performance perk. If I could exercise them all today it would be worth around $30,000.
We get a flat-rate bonus here - every person in the company gets exactly the same amount, regardless of how high up they are. Mine’s mostly spent (on Christmas presents, natch).
My brother sells cigarettes wholesale. His bonus this year - a 2003 Jaguar Convertible that he got to drive off the lot.
They’re not hiring.
Now that’s a bonus.
Do you have any plans for the bonus Lola? Are you eyeing a car? A week in Tahiti? A special gift for someone?
State employee - so we’re getting the 26th off too.
and we get a Longevity bonus - mine was $400 but they use some obscene tax structure on it and I actually go $257.40.
Our bonuses are earlier in the year, but last year I got a $1500 voucher for a trip anywhere and money. This year, who knows.
My bonus is roughly 10% plus I always unload my company stocks so my “bonus” is roughly 20% (minus taxes on the first 10% of my bonus).
After taxes though my bonus is rather like a normal paycheck…I hate taxes.
Anyone here see that piece on CNN (I think) about the company that paid each of its employees a bonus of $1000 per year worked?
One guy had been there for 27 years.
My husband got a $130 bonus and I got a $100 gift certificate from a clothing store.
Both very nice, and very appreciated!
BONUS?! What is this thing you call a "Bonus’?
Seriously, I too am a Federal slave and we don’t get Christmas bonuses. Well, I get the 26th off, without having to charge myself leave, but whenever Christmas fall early or late in the week the past presidents have usually given us the day before or the day after Christmas off.
I guess I should be thankful I still have a job. When the new system ol’ Rummy has instituted starts, raises will be few. In addition, with all the A-76 and privatization going on, I’ll be lucky to be able to hang around long enough to retire.
I’m not bitter…really…
Congrats to all of you who DO receive bonuses!
Just wow.
I’ve been at my company for about 18 months and got a $500 bonus. Not too bad, considering that the biggest bonus was around $3000 (but he’s the GM of sales and has been there for over 10 years). After taxes, it’ll be about $325, which is going straight to the VISA!
What-nus? Profit what?
No bonuses, no profit sharing, nuttin’ for us. Although, the stock is doing well.
I’m just happy to be working for a stable employer that’s not troubled by funky economy. To paraphrase what our CEO said a couple years ago, money doesn’t go away. It’s just somewhere else. And from checking accounts with 57 cents in them to financing multi-million dollar homes, business loans, auto finance, etc, we’re everywhere.
But yeah, a bonus would be nice.
Theres been a ruckus in the papers here in Hong Kong about how some workers in the financial sector have been given 2-3 times annual salary as a bonus.
I wonder how one gets a job at the investment banks…
We used to have a performance based bonus. And we used to have profit sharing. They equaled at least 10% of your gross wages from the year before, with higher numbers possible. Now we get, well, they say there will be a new rewards & recognition program starting in January. And they will start handing out more information on it in November and December. At least that is what they said in October.
A common complaint of the residents in my program has always been that the pillows in the call rooms–the rooms in the hospital where we sleep when we get the chance when we’re working overnight–are standard-issue hospital pillows, and are ridiculously uncomfortable. This year, for our bonus, the program bought us six nice big pillows for the rooms.
It sounds pathetic, but we couldn’t have been happier. From the response in the resident/faculty meeting when this was announced, you’d think we were each getting a dump truck full of cash and a blow job.

Everything I got this year was a bonus - BECAUSE I’M RETIRED!!!
Yes, yes slave on you pitiful worker bees. Rise early to beat the parking lot like traffic while sloshing 6 hour old 7-11 coffee on your crotches. It matters not because you’re too tired when you get home to use your crotches anyway. Beat your tiny little heads against a wall of management indifference in a futle attemt to make carve out a small slice of the American dream (except of course for you non-Americans) for yourself.
While I, making more than I did working, leap happily from the bed at the crack of when I’m in the mood. Set about doing whatever I feel like at whatever pace seems like fun today.
Haven’t cut my hair in a year, lost over 25 pounds, and bought a Harley.
Yep, retirement’s good.

lol.
self-employed guy here. My bonus was being told last week by my accountant that I have to pay $3500 to the City of New York by the end of the year for the “unincorporated business tax.”
We get some tiny percentage bonus from the media giant (rhymes with “box”; I work for one of their newspapers). I don’t know the exact formula, but since I only work part-time, mine ended up being ten dollars. Wee.
