Anyone making bonus this year????

We made bonus last year. 15% of annual salary. This year, squat. Although I was talking to the GM and we might try to whine a little and see if they’ll throw us a bone, 3 - 5 %. Not likely, but we’re going to try.

So, any others out there gonna make bonus? If so, do you know what you’re doing with the bonus $$$.

If they do throw us a bone, I’ll probably take a quick weekend trip somewhere. Maybe a dopefest someplace warm…

Our bonus comes in May. I made mine and will likely make it again next May.

I work for the federal gummint. Our “bonus” is that we get the 26th off. More than we got last year…

Bonus? What’s a “bonus?”

We get ours early in the year, reflecting the prior calendar year. My last one worked out to about 13% of salary, and the one coming up this year ought to be at least as good. We’ve had an excellent year. :).

we got a bonus this year, surprised all of us yippeeeeee

15% of salary?

Jesus, that’s a ton. I mean, I realize it depends upon a) what you make in salary and b) what percent of your total compensation was ‘guaranteed’ as part of compensation - meaning, the type of industry you’re in may demand bonuses…

but jeez, that would be a ton of money in my situation. I made probably a 1.3% bonus and was quite happy with it.

My federal job bonus is probably a reprieve that the competitive sourcing results will be delayed by 30 days this spring, followed by a pink slip to replace us with overseas workers.

I’m a union grunt for the one of the big 3 auto plants. Seniority employees of good standing recieved our regular $600 Christmas Bonus, we haven’t had performance-based bonuses in nearly a decade.

Our spring profit-sharing bonus has been as high as $4000 to as low as $0 in the last five years, though. Considering we haven’t had profit-sharing for two years, I was pleasantly surprised to continue getting the Christmas bonus.

I’ll get my regular bonus this Spring, however for the last couple years the owner of the company has given us an extra bonus of $600 - 1000 (he calls it a “discretionary” bonus) because the company has done so well recently.

My boss called me last March and congratulated me as he told me of my 0.38% bonus. Yes – a fraction of a percent.

Just makes you want to bust your ass harder in the coming year, looking forward to a bonus like that!

Personally, I’m in favor of a straight cash bonus (i.e. the same for everyone, regardless of income). That’s what we got this year and I think it’s great. I’m quite well paid and happy to share the joy with folks who aren’t so lucky.

I once worked for much bigger company which, for a Christmas bonus, offered us the choice of a) a 5 lb frozen mini-turkey or b) a 2 lb packaged ham. I told them to choose one and then stuff it up their ass. I’d rather see them donate stuff like that to the local shelter, where it might make a difference.

Well, my boss came in with Timbits today.

I ate one.

I guess that was my bonus.

Oh well. At least it was a chocolate Timbit.

I got 75% of 95% of 10% of my salary.

No, I’m not kidding. I was eligible for 10% - that was established with my last raise last year. I did well enough surpassing my performance goals that I got 95% of that (just meeting them gets you about 80%). But my personal performance is only 75%, the rest comes from the overall company performance, and they underperformed.

I’m eligible for 10% next year again, but for some reason I’m not holding my breath.

Oh, and I forgot. Profit sharing, which had been running at 3 - 5% for the last few years, was 0% this year.

Note that by “underperformed” I mean that we only grew by 12% this year instead of the 18% they were hoping for. And they’re wondering why engagement is in the toilet.

20% here - max 30%, my company had a rather bad year. I can’t complain.

My company splits up each years’ profits and hands it out to the employees based on seniority and contribution. Our president’s philosophy is that we know better than the government where our money should go, so the company should give everything out as an employee payment (which gets taxed at about 15%) rather than declare it as corporate profit (which gets taxed at 50%).

The company barely broke even one year, which meant that a few of the bonus envelopes actually jingled. Last year was pretty good, however, and I received a bonus of more than one month’s salary even though I’d just started halfway through the year. This year things were even better, and I received almost six months’ salary as a bonus, plus the whole office went to Saipan for four days.

There are people who get a couple months’ salary as bonuses? Good god almighty, I can’t even begin to wrap my head around that. I’ve only ever gotten two bonuses that were in the triple digits, and I was flatly astounded the first time I opened an envelope with an extra week’s pay in it.

This year I got half a month’s salary. Four years ago I got 9 glorious days in Florence, Italy.

Last year I got $25. This year, I don’t think I’ll get anything. GM’s a tightwad.
