We found this little guy, black and white domestic short hair male. We think he is about 8 weeks old. He is super sweet but we can’t keep him since I am pregnant and we rent. I have called around to 15 plus shelters and rescues in the Memphis area and no one is able to take him. I will not take him to the Memphis Animal Shelter, they are awful and have a really horrible track record on facility conditions and high rates of euthanasia. Would anyone near Memphis, TN be able to take him or help me find someone who can? I only live about and hour from Jonesboro, AR or Tupelo, MS as well so I can travel to NEA or MS to help him find a home. You can contact me through my SDMB email on my profile. Thank you. --April R.
If there was some way to get him to Oregon, I’d take him. Seriously. Barring that, put him on Craigslist.
would craigslist be safe for adopting out a kitty?
Generally speaking, yes. I would accompany it with an adoption fee of $20 to keep the nutters at bay, and would definitely interview anybody who responds. If you get a bad vibe, or if someone says they’re getting it as a gift, just walk away from it.
Johnny: That looks like a good outfit, but they insist the animal be neutered first, which would be an expense for April R. Looks like they primarily move animals from animal shelters, also.
I just emailed them. Thanks!
Unfortunately I can’t find a way to post pets in Craigslist and I tried searching the Memphis Craigslist to see if anyone else had and I couldn’t find any pet listings.
Edit: Found it.
My wife’s niece is an airline pilot. In her spare time she does Great Dane rescue flights with her own plane.

I may be wearing the husband down. I already picked a name for him.
Vegas
I will pay for the neutering.
I think my mom will pay for it if I can get my husband to agree to take him in.
I’d change adoption fee to rehoming fee (the wording) but other than that, I agree with this 100%.
Hope the cat goes to a good home!
Can she take a carry-on?
I also have a cat I’ll be looking for a new home for. My mom had two cats when she passed away. My brother only wants to keep one, and I’m across the country and in a no-cats apartment.
I’ve been putting it off too long already.
Sylvester shouldn’t be homeless.
I really think I talked my husband into taking him. Plus I am going to ask my doctor about getting tested for toxoplasmosis (sp?) immunity. They say that 15% of women in the US are immune to that, which is the stuff found in cat feces which have been contaminated from contaminated dirt. If I am immune I can be around the litter box just fine while pregnant and my baby will be naturally immune as well. Hopefully I am so my husband doesn’t have to empty the litter box all the time. LOL.
I plan on making him an indoor cat. My mom is getting him his shots and will pay for the neutering when it is time. I am pretty excited. I really hope my husband doesn’t regret letting me have him. My hubs wants to go to an international Barbershop Singing competition in Toronto next July, and originally I was like no way, you will have a one month old newborn at that point. But if I get the cat I think a week in Toronto for the hubs is a fair trade
How does the name Max Vegas sound?
I am thinking of calling him Max V for short.
UPDATE.
So I have a friend who is looking to get a cat for her family. She lives close to me and I know her family. They are great and there are a bunch of kids to help take care of him. I facebook messaged her about the kitten and I hope she gets back to me soon.
I am thinking I shouldn’t get caught up in the euphoria of getting a new kitteh and realize the responsibility that would be with having a new baby in June. I think it would be more responsible of me to try and place him in a good home.
Though I can’t deny I am disappointed I don’t have a better situation which would allow me to take him in without hesitation.
Once they’re named, you’re theirs. Just make DH do the litterbox while you’re pregnant.
He’s a cutie!
He’s a beautiful cat. Looks a lot like my Wonton. I hope your friend does take her because you’re right about the “Shelter”. It’s shameful that place is still up and running. I would take him in a minute but I just had two kittens dumped in our neighborhood in the past two months so I’m looking for someone to take a gorgeous solid black female (she has rabbit fur I swear!) youth and a really…REAALLLY fiesty but loving-when-she’s-sleepy calico who couldn’t be more than 3 months old. No way I’d take them to the shelter either.
