Anyone need a kitten?

On Sunday morning, I got a call from my neighbor. She and her family were driving down the road near our houses, and found a tiny kitten. Since they have three dogs and we have three cats, they thought it might be a good idea for us to take in the poor little thing. I thought so, too, at least for a little while.

It’s tiny! It’s only about the size of my hand, with a cute pointy tail. I immediately went to the local pet store to get some kitten milk and a nurser, and set up a box with a heating pad in it. All day yesterday we tried to get it to eat, but it just didn’t like the nurser. It would take just one suck at it, then turn away. I even got up a couple times during the night to try, but it just refused to drink.

This morning I called up my veterinarian, and took the kitten in. They thought it was about 3 weeks old, and female. I left her there so they could try to get it to eat. When I picked it up this afternoon, they still hadn’t been able to get it to suck on the bottle, but did get it to slurp up some solid food mixed with the milk. Basically, you have to shove the kitty’s little face in the food, and she sucks it up. It’s a very messy process, but as long as it’s getting some food, that’s OK.

Now we just have to find someone who needs a kitten. We can’t keep it. We just adopted cat #3, and my husband was pretty upset about that. Little Noname just can’t stay.

Anyone need a new kitty?

Oooh, ooh me! I was planning to get one from the shelter next week after I move into my new flat. But I live faaaar away from you (probably).

Well, she’d practically fit in an envelope.

If you can get her to Columbus, Georgia, she has a home.

(my husband will kill me, and my cats will divorce me…maybe I’ve got that backwards…but I am in love!

If you can get her in an envelope she has a home.

If you can get her to mid-Mo I’ll take her! We just bought our very own house last week and I’m in the market for a kitty cat.

You should see this kitten eat! It’s like a combination bulldozer and vacuum cleaner. She shoves her face in the glop and just sucks up whatever food is in her path, mopping the plate with her feet and tail. What a mess!

Cute little fuzzball! I’d take that kitten, but I just got a firm “NO” when I tried to adopt #2 from the left: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/karlen1956/detail?.dir=82ebre2&.dnm=6944re2.jpg&.src=ph

How anyone could turn down a face like that is beyond me, but it is living proof that there are true monsters in the world.

OMG! There should be a warning before you post an armfull of cute fuzz and fluff!

The OP’s kitten might not have been abandoned by humans, it may have lost it mama to a car or a predator. I don’t need a kitten…I have a fuzzy overlord who won’t tolerate sharing the throne.

Hmmmm…I may be in the market for a kitten after I move to North Carolina. I just signed the lease for an apartment and paid a (non-refundable) deposit so I could bring my two cats with me. However, a friend just offered to take one of them, thus solving my problem of how I was going to transport two cats by plane on a single flight. I haven’t yet talked to my new landlord about whether I can get half of the deposit back (it was $200 per cat) if I only have one cat, and if I can’t, then it seems like I should be entitled to get another cat.

Ooh…I love that little kitten…I love all four of them. I love them *and * the little black baby from the OP that I hope finds a home, soon.

For those of you who feel your current cat won’t accept a newcomer; I thought the same way. Abby was pretty set in her ways, and bossy to boot. I never thought she’d accept a new cat in the household. Then I found Hanna as a skinny, sick kitten. It took a few months, but Abby accepted Hanna eventually. There were a few growls, but no real fights. I actually had a worse time with Hanna accepting Isabel when I got her last January. Now Hanna and Isabel are good friends. Bo, my near 17 year old cat who I’ve had since he was six weeks old, accepts any strange cat without any hassle at all. I have four cats and they all get along great.

Are you anywhere near Colorado?

My beloved Jake is ill and may not have much longer. :frowning:

I need someone to play with the yearling Astrix . He was also a messy eater. (Mom’s milk didn’t come in. I was bottle feeding four kittens!! I’m told the other three are very friendly and playful, so I’m a pretty good foster mom.)

Just for consistancy, I also have the Amazing Elwood the giant three-legged cat.

An handful of pussy! How cute! :::::::::::::::::SQUEEEEEEEEEE!::::::::::::::

I’m in West Virginia, so Missouri and Colorado might be a little distant for me. Little Noname objected to the envelope idea.

Right now I have her at work and she’s crawling around on my desk, exploring. Work is fun!

Wow. Isabel’s eyes are magnifico! They’re all cute. I want all the cats. All the time. Forevah.

pussy.

And it’s young pussy, too! Dat’s the best kind.

Her official name should be Noname (pronounced No-Nah-Mee).

Well, I’m sure there a cats here that will need a good home.

(Kittens at work are fun. You will get a lot of co-workers dropping by.)

Can’t take it, but I have to put in an “awww,” anyway. We just took in a stray that was living around my husband’s parents’ house. She’s so friendly and affectionate that we know she had to be a pet at some point. . .but there’s no microchip, and no lost reports matching her description. She’s not spayed, either, though that will be taken care of shortly. We thought about taking her to the shelter, but decided that our younger kitty, Willow, might appreciate having a playmate her own age (as our older cat, Zipper, is a bit crotchety in her old age, and doesn’t like being jumped on).
