There are a ton of Facebook groups for people trying to get more people to join their games. Just join a group and start friending people in there at random. You’ll get plenty in no time.
I have a couple of friends that play Mafia Wars, but I have never signed up. What is it all about? Does it require a massive time commitment? I am sure that I would have some extra time each day to play if it isn’t too terribly involved.
It’s sort of like a browser based RPG/resource management game. You grow your “family” by recruiting Facebook friends, and buy weapons and so on, and you get experience for fighting other families and doing “jobs”.
It’s free and you don’t have to install anything, and pretty intuitive. I picked it up in about 5 minutes, and if you don’t like it you can just quit playing. Even if you never do anything but sign up your friends get to count you as part of their family, which makes them more powerful.
I prefer Perfect Warrior and Heroes vs. Villains, although like most Facebook apps, there’s not a whole lot of depth to these games.

My hubby is addicted, ADDICTED to this game. Beware.
Once you get into the higher levels, you really need mobsters to do anything. Seach for Mob Wars Friends lists to find people to add.

Played Mobsters on myspace for a while. If you do the math and spend a little time on it the game is WAY too easy.

An addictive game, and very well made for its type! After I was done cajoling my friends into joining, I found the best way to get more people in your family is to visit the forum (accessible from in game) and find the ‘add me on facebook’ thread. Then just friend those asking and send them an invite. I even have them in a seperate label so I don’t get overwhelmed by wall posts that are all about Mafia. 
I’m playing Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars and Pirates: Rule the Caribbean! I’ve done the Add Me threads on all three forums but they only allow one entry and no bumping, so it gets buried pretty quick. PM me if you want me to join your group.
Highly addicted to Mafia Wars and leveling fast. Unfortunately, some jerk today hitlisted me about three times and ransacked my properties, costing me millions. Be careful when you select targets off the hitlist.
I’m still playing this thing - couldn’t possibly tell you why. I’m edging up to level 300, and was on the verge of quitting when Cuba opened. That’s just barely managed to keep me going. In NY, I’m earning something like $150 million per hour, and I’ve finished all the jobs there. Cuba turned out to be disappointingly easy. I had all the businesses purchased and fully upgraded within a week or so, and now there’s nothing to spend my money on there, either, other than whatever gear I need for the jobs, which is just pocket change now. I’m sort of hoping to get up to the trillion dollar mark, but I’ll probably get bored and quit before then.
How do you get your hourly income that high? It was easy at first but the properties become progressively more expensive as you buy them, so every $1bn I spend now only buys 3 Casinos instead of 10.
I think I’m at $80 million per hour at the moment.
I’m still under a million per hour, but just bought 10 beachfront properties. I’m maxed out on Mafia Mike’s till I grow the family some more. I’m not buying any high end buildings until I have at least 200 members and weapons, vehicles, and armor for everyone.
I wouldn’t bother spending too much money on weapons. By the time you get to level 30ish, all the non-rare item weapons will be more or less obsolete. I’ll send you some stuff that should help, though.
