I just finished Juniper, Gentian, and Rosemary by Pamela Dean and I’ve come to the realization that while I love Dean’s writing, she’s too smart for me.

I don’t understand the ending of this book. It’s a YA book. I didn’t understand parts of The Secret Country. That’s a children’s book.

Am I alone in this?

Nope, I also didn’t get either of them! I also read Tam Lin, and while I understood that, it was only because I knew the story already. If you ever figure out what actually happened in either book, let me know.
