I saw it today with my dad. I started to get embarassed when he started singing along to Hit 'Em Up, and then I realized that the only other guy in the theatre was singing along to everything anyway.
I didn’t really go expecting a good movie, and I didn’t see one. The story was simplistic and the acting was not good, but that’s not necessarily the actors’ fault - they were working with awful dialogue. I went because Biggie was iconic to my generation and I miss him. I miss Tupac too. The whole East Vs. West thing was complete bullshit and I’m so glad it’s over. Once it got started nobody’s ego would let them back down, and 2 of the greatest of all time (including many, many lesser know people) had to die before it ended.
It did succeed in making me sad towards the end; I’m almost 4 years older than Big ever lived to be.
I’d give it a 9/10 for nostalgia and about a 4/10 overall. I thought they could’ve paid him a little more respect by getting a better writer and director, and probably better actors in a few cases. The girl who played Lil Kim was way hotter than the real thing, though.
